sorry. cannot see how this is a good decision and/or will take the CFC forward.

never like his special comments either and he makes terrible predictions.

A lot of focus on the TV and radio Robert Walls. I like the idea that not coaching for a considerable time makes you an unsuitable candidate for a role as mentor. He’s 68 years old which means he has life experience to add to his football credentials.

I think Bolton and his crew will benefit from his involvement.

I’m being positive which is what is normally posted in a welcome back thread.

Well done for bringing back a guy who last coached a side 21 years ago and lost by 130+ points in his final game. He'll fit in well

Sometimes it's helpful when under pressure to be able to turn to somebody who has years/decades of experience in similar situations.

Bolton is a relatively junior coach who has shown an ability to connect with players and motivate others. However, he is still an infant in coaching terms.

Junior medical staff simply cannot function without a senior consultant to constantly pester and run things by to avoid making fatal errors...

This appointment makes sense, Craig may have had a greater impact than previously envisaged.

Maybe it’s Seinfeldian, whatever Wallsy says, maybe Bolts just has to do the opposite!

Wallsy played and coached in premierships at Carlton.
Bolton won two games this year.

Maybe Bolts should do the opposite of what Bolts did this year. Bolton appeared to coach way better when Neil Craig was around.

I suspect this Wallsy role is minor in nature and some are overstating its status.

I’m a great fan of Wallsy, but his last premiership as a player was in 1972. His last premiership as a coach was 1987.

His prediction that the current premiers would be wooden spooners this year was unfortunate and embarrassing.

Ladder predictions are irrelevant.

Brendon Bolton is the coach.

Wallsy, it sounds like, will simply be an old-fashioned sounding board, a bit like Balmey. Wallsy knows what success (Carlton during his time) and failure (Brisbane Bears) looks like.

Hopefully in a years time the role he is doing will no longer be needed. But for now, Bolts had a shocker this year and was far better when Neil Craig was around.

Yes, that’s fair enough.

For what it’s worth, last year the man visited an extended family member of mine who was on his last legs in hospital. Stayed for well over an hour, gifted some of his own memorabilia and freely chatted about the good old days. Provided a huge lift to the family.

He had no obligation to do so after receiving an invite.

That’s a fair endorsement of character in my eyes.

I suspect you are right. There is no suggestion, from what I have read, that he will be involved in any coaching decisions. Importantly, despite having been at Fitzroy, Richmond, & the Bears, he is still a Carlton man & like the rest of us, wants to see our club enjoying success again & voluntarily is prepared to put his hand up & assist in any way he can. If it doesn't work for him or Bolts & the other coaches, he can move on & it won't have cost the club anything.

I reckon theres some folks around that will find fault with anything and everything the club they claim to support tries to do. Why I don't know. I just know that the word support to me doesnt mean, 'kick the crap out of continually'.
So I say welcome Robert and best wishes doing what the club I support has asked you to do. May it bear fruit.
