I think with a bloke like Buddy staying fit, we put ourselves always in a position to win a flag. Does that mean we are best positioned to every year? That's a different discussion but I still think we can challenge with things going our way a little more. Winning an extra 4 games at home is a start.I just hope the club goes for a flag or goes to a way to develop a list for the flag and feels it has the supporter base that will understand going back to go forward
Not keen to tread water
I do think Horse will see out his contract & it's not all doom & gloom. Heck, we had one hell of a draw in hindsight on top of all the other sh.t.

Yep. Sponsors supply free or heavily discounted cars to players and their families/friend and also use players as "ambassadors" or to advertise, get put on the Footy Show, etc, etc. The big Melbourne clubs are the worst abusers of this loophole. Also anyone who believes the cap is a "hard" cap are kidding themselves. Players are bought things all the time. "Take 200k less salary a year with us and we will buy you 600k worth of property"
Our defence is terrific, I'm not saying otherwise. But we have 2 great mids who are being underutilised there (Mills & Jones) due to lack of depth down back. The sooner we get more in defence the sooner we can push them into our midfieldWe need mids first and foremost though. Our defenders are at least passable

I think Melbourne would jump at that trade. No way Tyson is worth P12. Would be more like P30-35 range.just trying to think outside the square here. why don't we offer pick 12 for setterfield to gws/tyson to melb? then use 2nd rounders on blakey points.

Yeah I'd be offering one of our second round picks for Tyson, can't see anyone at the club making that offer.I think Melbourne would jump at that trade. No way Tyson is worth P12. Would be more like P30-35 range.
The winning Eagles goal on the weekend was set up by a defender taking a mark and playing on. Midfield won’t win the ball all the time.Disagree on Jones. Not sold on that move one bit, actually think he works in the backline.
Even if those two move we are still 3-4 short in there.
I don't ant to hear about a defender being targeted when our midfield is pathetic.

Who comes out of the team for these mystery midfielders?
Since nobody wants Ronke, Papley or Hayward going through the middle, can they all be retained in the side with your expanded midfield group? If not one of them going out, then who?
Hannebery obviously and Newman but he was half back. So let’s say Mills for Hannebery and Jones for Newman.
Now who?

I think we should be pushing Jones and Mills to the middle with Heeney doing cameos, bolster up our KPD stocks with Rampe and Lloyd being our halfback flankers. Get Clarke and vandenBerg for depth, the latter playing on the ball for inside grunt. Fixing our mids doesn't have to mean only recruiting mids. It's hollistic list management.Disagree on Jones. Who are these others?Easy. Jack. Should pay in the NEAFL next year as a mentor personally. Then you have to look at a few others. I would be playing Mills on ball, enough of him as a defender. No reason all 3 of those smalls can't play forward.
Moore may end up being better. As for injuries he played 21 games last year as a key position player at 21 years of age. Lol he can stay on the field!Yeah and their premiership was set up by Luke Shuey's performance. Please don't tell me you think Moore is McGovern quality lol...he barely stays on the field!

He is great in defence, so is Mills, but we can afford to lose some ground in defence if it means our midfield strengthens. Truth be told our defence is so strong due to it's structure rather than the players we use. Duryea I back to fit right inDisagree on Jones. Not sold on that move one bit, actually think he works in the backline.

What happens if you draft a player who’s never had injuries and then is injured all the time? Not sure there is any guarantee of players being injury free. Injuries happen.Yeah and what about this year...there once was a time Sam Reid played a full season...
I aint falling for that again.
Don't want blokes coming off consecutive hamstring injuries.
100% agree on the kicking skills.I'd rather select genuine mids. Enough forward/mids or defender/mids. We need pure ball winners. Clarke helps but we need more depth. Just think you are robbing Paul to pay Peter in a lot of those moves. Mills aside, just feel the others are best left where they have been playing well.
We need to address our kicking skills too.
Why would we trade for him?Don't mind Durea, only issue is he's suspect to a brain snap. Worth a late pick though.
