Wow, that's great news! Unless they've changed the rules recently, one of them will have to be a Category A rookie, as only one (Irishman) can be a Cat. B rookie.

In addition to maintaining the maximum number of allowable Category A Rookie Players on their Rookie List under Rule 10.1, each Club may include a maximum of three (3) extra Players on its Rookie List provided those Players are:

(i) former Scholarship List Players at that Club who have been nominated under Rule 12.5 or 12.9;
(ii) former International Scholarship List Players at that Club who have been nominated under Rule 13.5 or 13.8;
(iii) former Club Academy players at that Club who have been nominated under Rule 0;
(iv) International Players with the exception of Players who, subject to Rule 10.1(c), are Irish citizens or who have, in the opinion of the AFL, lived for a substantial period of time in Ireland prior to inclusion on the Rookie List;
(v) Players who have not been registered or played in an Australian football competition for 3 years immediately before inclusion on the Rookie List;
(vi) a Qualified NGA Player of the Club who has been nominated in accordance with Rule 15.8(c) and 10.5.

(c) Notwithstanding Rule 10.1(b)(iv), a Club may include one Irish citizen or Player who has, in the opinion of the AFL, lived for a substantial period of time in Ireland prior to inclusion on the Rookie List on its Rookie List in accordance with Rule 10.1(b).

Yeah, I just had another look at the rules to see if they have changed anything from 2018 onwards (regarding Irish players on the rookie list). I'm really not sure, but maybe they have altered that rule? It would obviously be better for us if the two Irishmen could now be Cat. B rookies, because with Appleby set to be retained as a rookie and Broomhead destined for the r/l as well, there's not going to be too many vacant spots for Cat. A rookies.

COLLINGWOOD'S global talent search might well produce another couple of gems after the Magpies signed two promising Irish teenagers as Category B rookies.

Assuming this is correct, they have indeed changed the rules, and that is good news for us!! They brought that rule (only one Irish Cat. B) in to "keep the peace" with the Irish Gaelic Football authorities (as they didn't want AFL clubs pinching too many of their players and "stockpiling" them!), so it's surprising to see that this has been (apparently) changed!
