Just want to say you've picked up an exceptional person in Mayes. He's a gem. Sensitive soul who cares deeply for his teammates. A great addition to the locker room.

He's an anxiety bunny, which makes him a total confidence player. Get him feeling good about himself and you'll yield on-field profits. His 2017 season was a good example.

can you please give us a run down of his 2018? sounds like he dropped off significantly

Hodge kinda took his spot and he kinda missed out on the chance to reinvent himself. We had a charmed injury run and he couldnt force his way back in. Any other year with an injury list closer to the league average and he would have played a lot more AFL footy.

hardly inspiring. I know your team was on the improve but you were still a bottom team, and to be pushed out by a 34 year old is hardly anything to be proud of

hope he can re-invent himself here

Well keep in mind that Hodge was there based on his on-field coaching ability rather than a reflection of pure playing ability.

I also suspect that Mayes and the club had had early discussions at some stage in the year about his family troubles and his desire to explore ways to get home. This probably poured some cold water on his senior selection chances too.

Thanks for the input. Fingers crossed something can be made of his career here.

Im just dubious as we have brought fringe players home before and its not worked out so well for us... Jimmy Toumpas, Jack Trengove, Lindsay Thomas

Hes a top bloke, he should be played half forward, not sure why he actually elected to play in defense for us, even if it was to ensure games...

Anyway, will miss watching him play for us and will still follow him. Not another Polec, thats for sure, guys got a head on his shoulders.

Anyone feel we just got Toumpas 2.0
