Ok - trying to do this without looking at cricinfo.

Pretty sure his first hundred was in Pakistan. Second innings. I'm sure we lost.
(The above is all guesswork).

Nup. I'm out. Cant even remember if he was a lefty or not.

Ok - since we're talking about Fat Cat - how about fewest singles in a debut century?

I reckon you may be close to the mark. I would say Ritchie and Langer must be the only Australians to make their debut Test century in Pakistan. If this is the correct answer, the likelihood of them being joined by other batsmen in the near future is sadly becoming more unlikely. Hopefully we will be able to see Australia play there again.

Pretty close mate, only 2 Aussies to score their maiden test centuries in Pakistan.
Edit- Sniped by Worbod.
I can think of examples of maiden test tons by Aussies in India, Bangladesh, South Africa and NZ but was struggling a bit for Sri Lanka until I remembered Hookesy scored his one and only ton in our inaugural test there.

Wasn't Shaun Marsh's maiden ton in SL?

On debut too I think, Clarke in India and Marcus North in South Africa centuries on debut overseas as well. Dirk Wellham too. Must be others.
This is the full list of Australians (well, according to Wikipedia):

6 Reggie Duff 104 3 Australia England 2/5 Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne 1 January 1902 Won [16]
9 Roger Hartigan 116 3 Australia England 3/5 Adelaide Oval, Adelaide 10 January 1908 Won [19]
10 Herbie Collins 104 3 Australia England 1/5 Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney 17 December 1920 Won [20]
11 Bill Ponsford 110 1 Australia England 1/5 Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney 19 December 1924 Won [21]

48 Dirk Wellham 103 3 Australia England 6/6 The Oval, London 27 August 1981 Drawn [55]

51 Wayne Phillips 159 1 Australia Pakistan 1/5 WACA Ground, Perth 11 November 1983 Won [58]
55 Mark Waugh 138 1 Australia England 4/5 Adelaide Oval, Adelaide 25 January 1991 Drawn [62]
61 Greg Blewett 102* 2 Australia England 4/5 Adelaide Oval, Adelaide 26 January 1995 Lost [68]
81 Michael Clarke 151 1 Australia India 1/4 M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore 6 October 2004 Won [86]
84 Marcus North 117 1 Australia South Africa 1/3 New Wanderers, Johannesburg 26 February 2009 Won [89]
93 Shaun Marsh 141 2 Australia Sri Lanka 2/3 Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Pallekele 8 September 2011 Drawn [98]
101 Adam Voges 130* 2 Australia West Indies 1/2 Windsor Park, Roseau 3 June 2015 Won [106]

So the overseas ones are Graham, Wellham, Clarke, North, Marsh and Voges.

Interesting only two overseas out of the first 16, but then none in Australia since 1995.

I wonder what the market reckons the chances are of Head or Finch joining this very select club from Sunday. Travis the Head might be worth a nibble.

What is thought to be unique about Keith Stackpole's dismissal in Australia's first innings of the third Test vs New Zealand at Auckland in 1973-74?

Pretty sure I do know this.

Missed a straight full toss. Clean bowled. Doubled up for a pair in the second.

Retired immediately after. He knew his time was up.

Stackpole was caught in both innings, but the full toss part has something to do with the answer to the question.

Was the first ball of the match.

It was the first ball, but other players had been dismissed first ball of a Test prior to this.

Well if he was caught off a full toss, the ball never touched the ground. Can't imagine it's unique, though.

Whilst being dismissed from a full toss would not have been unique at the time, this is precisely the answer I was looking for. This is said to be the only Test where a wicket fell before the ball touched the ground.

Ah yes, first ball of the match, so the ball had NEVER touched the ground. Gotcha.

I was there for both 55 and 61

I thought it was Geoff Miller, but it seems not. I have also looked at the stats of Schofield Haigh, Freddie Brown, Fred Titmus, Jack Birkenshaw and Maurice Tate but to no avail.

I looked at a whole bunch, starting from current players and working backwards.

I then magically found a reference to a player said to have identical averages but cricinfo stats don't support it. Won't mention who because I cheated and that's not in the spirit of the thread.
