I’m a lot more optimistic going into next season than I was for 2017 and 2018.
Why ?

It’s because the cream in the ice cream breaks down and starts to seperate. It thens absorbs the water as it melts then if frozen again can’t regain the same texture and tastes watery

How so for 2017. We were the premiers and we had a couple come back from injury. It’s the most optimistic I’ve ever been was the start of 2017.
Bear in mind we were 4 - 1 after 5 rounds to start with. We looked great.
A backline consisting of Naughton, Cordy, Wood, JJ, Crozier, Richards and Daniel.
A midfield of Bont, Macrae, Hunter, Libba, Dunkley, Williams, Lipinski, Wallis and McLean.
West and Khamis coming in.
Forward line needs work - that’s the only “who knows” for me.
I’m excited.
The Dogs Christmas pantomime would rock with Daniel and Neade, can we start looking at taller blokes and stop picking upJake Neade delisted. Do we take a look?
More interested than in most suggestionsJake Neade delisted. Do we take a look?
Fair enough and I hope you are right
Harsh, we pretty well have no small pressure forwards and he’d be the pick of all those available. The Dogs Christmas pantomime would rock with Daniel and Neade, can we start looking at taller blokes and stop picking up
other teams rejects although plenty of tall players are rejects there is no height requirement.
I’d say most of the fans on here - their fears are our forward line and struggling to kick a winning score. Which is fair. Bevo is going to need to pull something out.

Could be wrong but I believe contracts finish on Oct 31, so anyone not re-signed will no longer be on contract for 2019 season. Would also be too late for him to nominate for the draft as well, so I imagine the only way he finds himself on a list after Oct 31 is as a delisted free agent.I reckon it’s to keep list spots open to have more flexibility with live pick trading and matching bids. Not entirely sure how it works though, do we have to officially delist them to have their spots open, or is the fact that they are not yet contracted for next year enough? Anyone know?
I’ll give one reason for my optimism for next year. The source of it is we are well and truly back to being underdogs. In 2015 we were huge underdogs and delivered. 2016 finals we were underdogs in every game and won. In 2017 came huge pressure. We crumbled. In 2018 people thought it might have been an aberration and we’d bounce back - we failed. Now we’re just a really young team with no expectations. Keen to see us being the hunters instead of the hunted again. Why ?

we have a list of what? 42 plus rookies. only 22 can play AFL each week, what does this mean for the next 20 odd?
about 10 are our depth players
4-6 should be 1st-2nd year player
then the last 4-6 I feel are those question mark players, guys like a Clay Smith 14-17 who are injured but if fit are best 22 players.
During season 2016 I said a few times that Fletcher Roberts is a player that every club needs on their list, someone that doesn't have an ego, knows their role and limits and someone who knows that what they are earning is the best they can hope for. I feel Campbell is a lot like that, they know the systems, they don't rock the boat, they know what is expected and when called up they play within themselves.
now you need guys on your list like this, not only to fill the list, but to keep cost down and know that that's their role.
All I will say is back then every player looked like they were 100119373% behind Bev and his “story”. All smiles and mates
Very different look about them now imo and that was Bevs main strength. I do worry that was his main tool and now it’s gone can he use others.
I think 2019 will tell us and unfortunately I’m not hopeful at all.
Yeah good point, the cutoff is pre-draft. Maybe they are remaining flexible for possible pick swaps.Could be wrong but I believe contracts finish on Oct 31, so anyone not re-signed will no longer be on contract for 2019 season. True, but Ross Lyon coached teams have this weird thing of making good players bad and bad players good. Tendai Mzungu was a borderline elite player for a year or two under him, and same with Chris Mayne. What do you like about him? He's the definition of vanilla, in my opinion. Not even good, creamy vanilla. More like that ice cream that has melted, then been refrozen, and is all gross. That sort of vanilla.
