Dogs bid early knowing full well they couldn't get him

IN FACT HAD ALREADY NEGOTIATED MOVEMENT OF PICK

never were serious and forced our hand

It's going to happen this year

WERE COLLINGWOOD

EXPECT NO FAVOURS
No idea on their value, but reading descriptions, i have a feeling that Kelly is going to get bid on earlier than this board expects. Tall mobile defenders with intercept potential are justifiably fashionable.

Agree. Back flankers don’t usually go early unless they’re Isaac Smith style racehorses, who can equally play wing and attack with long, accurate kicking. Even then we’re talking mid-teens. It’s just not valued much as a position relative to KPPs or mids.

Even then with Smith, he was a mature ager.

It was the 1st year of F/S bidding process and it was held during the trade period rather than within the draft as it is now. As I recall it, Doggies wanted a KPF, bid on Moore, missed, chased Boyd. Doubt they'd have even bid in the new system unless they were unable to secure Boyd during the trade period.

Sorry...but I don’t believe in conspiracy theories...
Professional list managers/recruiters would only bid on a player if they want him on their list & he is the next ‘best’ available according to their ranking.
Due diligence to place the bid when appropriate for your club.
Nothing lost if bid is matched...move on to the next player on your ranking sheet.
Unprofessional & foolish to bid on a player, just to spite or derail another club or think that you will benefit later in the draft somehow by playing bidding games.

I think 41 & 44 will rise up a bit once matching is done for the Thomas, Blakey and West types so I think they'll ultimately be worth more points.

I've crunched the numbers and the net result of the Blakey and Thomas bid matches is only likely to be pick 44 moving up one spot to 43 - pick 41 will remain unchanged as North Melbourne's first "pick" will jump ahead of ours when matching a bid for Thomas, which will in turn erase the one pick gain we would otherwise get when Sydney uses two first round picks to match a bid for Blakey (which I can see coming at pick 6 or 7 at the earliest).

To cut a long story short I suspect the best we can potentially hope for is being left with something like picks 40, 42, 47-48 and 53-54 after all of the relevant father son and academy picks (Blakey, Thomas, West and Scott) shake themselves out.

Problem in keeping a club honest is one day a club will not match and that club will be left with a player they don’t want.
Risky ploy that can backfire.

So do you really think clubs will make a bid for a player they don’t want just because they would expect to Pies to match?

Clubs are professional enough to know that the draft is about their own club, and their decisions affect their own club.

Clubs will have a list of who they want to draft and will call out their names. If IQ or Kelly are on that list they will call them out if those preferences before them are gone.

Hey n a side note, live trading of picks on draft night will be interesting.

Hey Darkyp thoughts on Darcy's signing with the Pies again?

Good question
You enjoying the break
Bit concerned how the delistings are going
Heard blairs going to Heidelberg as example and kirbys retired

Never any doubt though that Moore has a great potential
Should be a star , has the tools , no doubt

If you recollect I was informed where into May ,
Lloyd was going to suns and Moore to swans
Domino 1 fell over when Lloyd stuck fat with swans
Then Moore became less attractive to them as a deal wouldn't be reached
He signed on our terms

Now CFc the concern is obvious and with a so called tougher draw and a target on our back we could be vulnerable for depth yet again
Elliott. No sure thing
Shaz. Ditto
Moore. Ditto
Broom head ditto
Dunn ditto
Wells ditto
Murray asada
Wills ditto
Varcoe ditto
All the above have huge question marks over their durability
Tyler brown , Kelly , lynch , mcclarty , daicos ,murphy aren't really ready yet

So that's 15 players before a shots fired Cfc with ?
Our list size is stretched

So if he stands up , gets on the park , builds his value great
If not , we'll the definition of insanity is doing the same thing , the same way and expecting a different result
Wasn't really must interest I must say once Lloyd stayed
Your thoughts mate
Ps bored as well

At what? Pick 50? Hardly a spiteful bid to make them overpay.

My thoughts on your list are as follows.

Elliott. No sure thing...…..I think Jamie playing the majority of games in 2019 will be our best recruit. Agreed no sure thing.
Shaz. Ditto...…….second half of 2019 and hopefully a place for him in the finals.
Moore. Ditto...….Club must get his body right...….With Jamie our best recruits for 2019.
Broom head ditto...…..deserved a free hit at it in 2019. I don't hold much hope with him to be honest. Best position is in the guts IMO.
Dunn ditto...….Bullish he plays round 1.
Wells ditto...….never heard of him
Murray asada……..you say tomato I say Quaynor
Wills ditto...…..only a miracle will save his career at the Pies
Varcoe ditto...………….will be solid again in 2019

You have to admit you went pretty hard on Darcy's character back then...….that is why I was a smarty pants with my question (plus I am bored at work).
We have to get his body right in 2019. As I stated Elliott and Moore could allow us to get top four again......that's how important I think they're.

As for the 2019 draw...………..anyone anytime anywhere is my philosophy.

Thanks for the reply.

Wow
I forgot man of steel Ben Reid
Also throw in
2 Irish kids
4 draftees ( maybe)
List of 44 or 45 tops

So by my calculations
38 players
4 rookies
3 cat bs

22 or almost 50% with ?
Scary

You overlook the fact that a club isn't going to bid unless they're prepared to take that player at that pick as there are no guarantees of getting those bids matched. They bid, they've committed themselves to that player at that pick.

I think if Moore , Reid, Elliott stand up we're in it big time
However we as I have indicated are at almost having 50% of our list either very inexperienced with young bodies or with question marks over bodies holding up
Hence why beams is important and roughead a chance ( both have injury history though) IMO
I haven't included sack (these above 2 )greenwood either.

Cfc if it come across as questioning his character I apologise For the confusion

I more was pointing out he has a extremely high level of awareness
This is because the kids been pushing shit up hill with it for nigh on 10 years
IMO Character , most would have quit, so big tick
Same with shaz
Hoping Dunn gets up
Lot of man love

List will be at least 46 with Madgen and 1 of the Irish recruits as Cat B's.

True but not overlooked
, just going on history

Most clubs bid on the big name hyped players early knowing full well a match is comming

Henney for example was called early as clubs were pissed off with the chocolates the swans were getting
Most times a team will match in fact as it's mainly f/a and some academy in the past
This year all clubs have academies
Different game draft as explained and planned by Derek hine last year after trade time and must say so far proven to play out that way

It might affect our 2 late picks but we can auto match anyway rounds
Rekin issac first round bid with either Richmond or Adelaide bidding on Kelly

Didn't he live with Paul Roos in Sydney? Or was Roos son good mates.

I agree he was bid on because he was that good.

Mate, he was awesome. Clubs were vomiting that Sydney could match with 18. He was the whole reason that the points system was introduced!

If that was remotely true a bid would have come for Viney before the Dees 1st pick in 2012. GWS had the 1st 3 picks and Viney was well in the top 5 discussions. Certainly would have been better for them than Plowman. They instead allowed the Dees to take Toumpas at 4 and Viney to slide to the Dees 2nd pick at 26.

Heeney was always highly rated, among the top 10 of most phantom drafts and expert predictions. The new points system was brought in for exactly his situation where a bid came early and the Swans only had to match with their existing 1st pick (much as with us and Moore). None of that however does anything to support your conspiracy theories.
