Bored of lack of trades or sick of trade talk/negativity? Then let's discuss the Doggies fixture!

Set to be realeased in roughly a week and rumors usually float around beforehand.

Until then I have a few questions for you!

What timeslots are your preferred to attend the footy? (There's a poll too)
What requests would you make for the Doggies fixture?

I hope we have at lest 2 Friday Nights.
Feature on Thursday Night (but not home game)
Ballarat games vs Gold Coast+ Port/Fremantle.
Zero Sunday Twilight.
Play Carlton Twice given how little thats happened.
Good Friday/North twice.
Avoid two Perth trips.

I love night games, just a better feel to sport and the crowd atmosphere for some reason. Maybe the cold, thin winters air carries the crowd noise more. Playing under lights kind of makes it feel its a big game.

That being said, expect to be let down with the fixture for 2019. Won't be as many night games as this season and expect to end up with a heap of Sunday games again.

Break Down and Analysis

  • Total of 55 double up games over the past decade
  • Kangaroos, Eagles, Lions dominate the double up games. Hope the AFL do not schedule us to double up vs these teams in 2019. YAWNNNN!
  • Have only doubled up with the Blues just once in the past 10 fixtures
  • Out of the 55 games, we have doubled up against, Top Six Teams 17/55 (4 Premiers), Middle Six Teams 20/55, Bottom Six Teams 18/55
  • The above shows we have had it extremely balanced when it comes to strength of fixture vs teams we have doubled up against
  • Longest double up drought is Hawks, last double up was in 2011
Going to predict we land at least 3 of Suns, Crows, Tigers, Dockers, Hawks as our double ups for the 2019 fixture.

Wouldn’t mind a Thursday or two.

Don’t expect any Friday’s

Hopefully Ballarat games are against Freo and port on Sunday’s

My preference would be to start with a Friday Night home Blockbuster against the Suns and then finish with an away game up in Gold Coast to help freshen up before the bye and finals.
And every game in between against the Suns anywhere......

A decent start to the season. Not underestimating the Swans but we’ll be a solid chance to win, at home and in prime time with a decent crowd. Looking forward to it!

A very big crowd for the opener next year. It’s great to have a Round one home game that is not stuck in the middle of the Easter weekend. This hasn’t happened for at least five years probably much more.

Swans usually a bit flat early in season. Could be a good time to get then. Inb4 Swans fans in crowd still complain about free kick count in 2016 GF whenever we get a free kick in round one...
Sounds about right

Massive bunch of snowflakes some of them are

Played some cracking games against each other in recent times. Looking forward to kicking off the season against you guys!
Agreed. Sydney are always competitive so it will be a good indicator of where we're at. Win or narrow loss and we should be in the mix for finals. If it's anything like the disaster against GWS in r1 this year, we'll be very concerned. But I expect it will be a close game.

Really like the first game up vs Sydney
