That’s the one, he might not have the head coach credentials but as the man behind the man he has seen the Pies, Cats and Tigers over the line and the pies and Tigers were pretty average squads.
Isn't it strange? You'd think there'd be cross over in those positions but his records on each are poles apart.

I have this as our best 22 to start round 1 in the AFL. Hopefully McKay pushes his way in, Walker pushes out Turner, and then LDU and Garner also force their way in as the year goes on. But will start in the VFL IMO.

B EVW Taz Williams
HB Jmac Thompson Daw
C Polec Jacobs Higgins
HF Hall Wood Ziebell
F Turner Brown Simpkin
R Goldy Cunners Ahern
B Anderson Tyson Dumont McDonald

Which gives us:
B Watson McKay Pittard
HB Murphy Durdin Wright
C Thomas LDU Atley
HF Hrovat Xerri Garner
F Zurhaar Larkey ?????
R ???? Hayden Scott

So yeah, love the amount of experience and talent outside the best 22. Grab a small forward and a new ruck/key forward (depending on what role we see Xerri playing) and we're set.
Gotta get Xerri in the Ruck for Experience, Zurhaar can rotate in and out of the ruck to. Hayden on HF and mid. Got some great vfl listed guys to pushing for spots

Yep Xerri needs to ruck more - be interesting if we get an experienced ruck , in that they give Xerri first crack or not.
Zurhaar will be in the seniors - my big improver next season. Has the talent but needed to improve his fitness.

Zurhaar in the ruck?
He took over for a short burst in the 1's last season. No doubt he can do it, so could Hayden with his vertical leap, but Zurhaar has a bit of experience. I agree hopefully Cams in the 1's, but there's no guarantee with team selections, based on last season.

He'll get slaughtered.

With the list finalised, early days look at the depth and balance:

Potential Rnd 1 VFL side if fully fit:

Wright Thompson* T.Murphy
Pittard Watson McDonald
Walker Hayden Scott
Garner Durdin Turner
Hrovat Larkey Wilkinson
Xerri Thomas Holmes
McKenzie, Taylor, Crocker, Zurhaar

Red Og in on first injury out of that group.

Whitecross to fit in there based on injures as well.

Close, Rippon, Jansen next in VFL listed cover.

Based on a Rnd 1 best 22 of:

Daw Tarrant Williams
EVW McKay* MacMillan
Polec Cunnington Dumont
Ziebell Wood Hall
Simpkin Brown Atley
Goldstein Higgins Jacobs

Anderson LDU Ahern Tyson

You usually have at least 4-5 on an injury list, but if we have a low injury list, it's possible that one of Jansen, Close or Rippon misses out given that between Red Og, Whitecross, Holmes, Jansen, Close and Rippon, there is cover for 5 inuries from the total playing list.

This may be the reason we didn't take Mansell and McGuiness as Cat B's, it may have simply unbalanced the VFL side a bit too much, given we'd be forced to give them games in lieu of some stronger depth like Rippon, Close etc.

I will definitely be watching more VFL games next season. It's going to be an exciting year!
