Surely 3 mates getting out of Adelaide at 18 and living on GC together would be a dream.. why would you ever go back? In fact, why would anyone who left Adelaide go back? I have only been there a few times and I dread the thought of it :p
Last thing GCS need at the moment is 2 outside players. They already have Martin, AhChee, Ainsworth and Lemmins. Need to star by getting 2 talls (Kings)and gun midfielders (Smith or Caldwell) to restart their rebuild.

Mitch McGovern better perform and be worth it.
Would have loved to snag someone like McHenry around pick 30 but with no picks after 1, no chance.

I really rate McHenry, have him ranked as a mid 1st rounder. If he does slide through to a mid 2nd rounder, someone will pick up an absolute steal

Not sure. Is it just me or does Rankine feel like he wouldn’t pass the ‘No Dickheads’ policy.

I don't know about that but my view will be unpopular, which is that I just dont see it with him. Over rated to excess is my feeling.

And all this Walsh is a safe bet middle of the road plodder talk is fair dinkum hilarious. He will be an out and out star doing the thing that you build your spine around. Feeding that spine all day long for season after season into the distant future.

Happy draft day to all.

Looking forward to tonight but even more so to tomorrow night.

Early picks are great, but for me often those picked later are more interesting.

Will be very interesting to see what happens.

I always love reading the reports on the late draft picks, blokes that go 75 are suddenly described as elite runners who can use both sides of the body with the perfect body shape for the modern game.

Updated - Final rankings for output and impact at the next level. The order would also be how I would draft for Carlton.

For our later picks, I would be happy with a combination of any 3 of the following, Vandermeer, Hanrahan, Richards, Andrews, Grundy or of course any sliders

1 Lukosius
2 Blakey
3 B.Smith
4 B.King
5 Caldwell
6 Walsh
7 Rozee
8 Rankine
9 M. King
10 Jones
11 McHenry
12 West
13 Clark
14 Hately
15 Williams
16 Stocker
17 Thomas
18 O'Halloran
19 Valente
20 Butters
21 McLennan
22 Dawkins
23 Taylor
24 Hill
25 Scott
26 Duursma
27 McFadyen
28 Bytel
29 Kennerley
30 E. Smith
31 Turner
32 Cameron
33 Kelly
34 Briggs
35 Hamill
36 Berry

Players that are on the fringe at the bottom end of the list. Still some very good prospects

Sturt, Quaynor, Stack, Khamis, Bowman, Sparrow, Koschitzke, Foot, Joyce, Foley, Jarvis, Andrews, Nietschke, Rowbottom, McKenzie, Grundy

And it's quite often the case.

The difference between the top 30 and the bottom 20 is often more to do with consistency and output that it is skills and athleticism. The have draftable attributes, but not the runs on the board to show they can impact enough.

Yeah the reports just leave off the "can't find the ball" part!!

We have shown there are quality players late in the draft over the past few years so hopefully we get another Williamson, Schumacher or even a Kerr or Polson.

It really just emphasise how hard to predict the real outcomes it is. And the high levels of abilty that run right through each years draft. Pick 1 and pick 70 can be miles apart or not so far after all.

Which brings up another aspect. Out of all the likely lads, its a fair bet that Walsh is the best in the wet. Just has that kind of game and body.

See how I ignored the ordinary pun.........lol
de-railers.......stimulating footy conversation since 2006..........
