Holder is a big loss - his batting and bowling have been outstanding this year. 33 wickets @ 12 with the ball & 336 runs @ 37 with the bat.
Not easy numbers to replace.

West Indies pace attack is actually averaging below 20 this year. Only the second time they’ve managed it despite all the great quicks they’ve had.

The two things he offers most to a team that badly need it, are general reliability, and a technique that can handle spin.
Re. The first - he is the one bowler you can truly count on to always bowl with test quality control. Roach is good too but occasionally goes awol. Chase’s bowling is criminally overused as he offers no control whatsoever. He is the fields man who will almost always hold any chance that comes his way. He is the batsman that you know will play to the situation.

Re. The second. His long reach and his ability to not let spinners get in a groove is better than every teammate. I am comfortable with him batting 7 or even 8 at home or on the harder decks away. But he should be at 6 at least when they play in Asia.

Just on that its actually been an incredible year of test cricket for the bowler. The average score per wicket for all nations in 2018 is only 27.39 which is the lowest it has been since 1959. For comparison it was 32.06 last year and has got as high as 37.84 in 2009.

9th wicket stand in the Bangladesh first innings was worth two more than the margin of victory.

Huge in the context of the game. So were the Warrican no ball and the drop from Dowrich of Mominul on 67.

Well that was fun while it lasted - ie. as long as the coin was in the air.

Bangladesh without a single seamer, win the toss and bat. No Gabriel or Holder for the West Indies.

If we win this I’ll have a flog on national tv

It wasn’t long ago Hope was basically being consigned to the dustbin of ‘tests only’ and talked about as not even having a CPL contract.

He’s just come off 3 odi centuries and a 50 in 5 knocks or something and blasted 51* off 16 balls

Tough call, Liton Das was out caught, but I guess the argument is that he wouldn't have gone aerial if the no-ball wasn't called, so you can't give him out. At the same time, he can't get a free hit for a legal delivery. Incompetent umpiring.
