Had the opportunity to get a ******* decent inside mid with speed and skills with Smith - pick ******* Rozee.

Which means that with 15 we pick ******* Xavier Duursma as the explosive mid with speed that breaks lines.

Absolutely ******* moronic drafting. It's like we thought that Caldwell was definitely were going to be available at 10 and then when better picks were available at 15 in Collier-Dawkins we still went with the player we expected to be available instead of the players that were available.

We have a whole flock of inside mids, why would we go and add more of them? Not needed. We have Atley in the wings as well, I expect him to play more next year.

Also here's a novel idea, maybe our recruiters know what they were doing, and what they wanted to get in, which they did, and in another bombshell probably know a bit more then yourself or any of us about the kids we have bought in.

From the impressions I have off the recruiters, highlight clips and phantom drafts we have done well.

I'm pretty happy with the blend of players that we've got. Most can play through the forward line. Rozee, Butters and Woodcock provide some really good skill going forward. Duursma I want to see put on some serious weight and becoming a line breaking, jaw smashing midfielder. Grundy gives us some sort of defender to develop. I’m very excited about Connor Rozee, as much as I was praying for lukosius or Max King, I was finding it very hard to split Rozee and Smith but if Geoff Parker rated him higher I’ll back him in.

I’m disappointed we missed Caldwell, but Butters’ footskills will help our side straight away.

Duursma seems to be one we really rated from what Ken was saying, I like the way he runs as soon as he gets the ball. Hopefully the club got this one right.

The long wait for pre season games begins!

Grundy fills a key defender spot. Woodcock sounds like a goal kicker. Also we've filled both Cat B spots.

We've done good enough. It just could have been better.

If we had got Rozee and Caldwell, it would have been fantastic. But Rozee wouldn't have been there at 10, and we went off Smith because of his bullshit. I guess we didn't want another Wingard (someone who didn't fully buy in) at the club.

Just hope that Duursma becomes what we need, because he's eventually going to be taking the place that Smith/Caldwell would have taken.

Who are the players that you are surprised to see left on the board un drafted

I like what we did.

For years we’ve lamented that we have dumb footballers who are tryers - S Gray, Matt Thomas types. We picked up a number of players who are clean, one grab players and have good footy IQ. Most notably Butters, but Rozee and Woodcock also fall into that category.

We had to replenish our small-mid wing and forward stocks. This was shaping up as a weakness on our list even before losing Wingard and Polec. We have done that as well as possible, but at the same time have taken three players with our first three picks who should all be expected to develop into wingmen/midfielders.

Let’s not forget our excitement two years ago when we drafted inside mid bulls in SPP, Atley and Drew. I’ve seen nothing from those three that says that they won’t make it. I absolutely expect them to be great. They now have outside-inside running, creative mids who kick more than they handball to complement them.

Woodcock is a clever, effective, impactful small forward. We desperately need someone to play that role well going forward. It was a good late pick.

It sounds like Cox is a similar type of player.

Grundy excites me. Raw but physically developed for his age. He does the things that tall backs need to do, and sounds like a fast learner. Rance was an awkward kick when he started too.

I think we’re a B+ on players drafted and an A- for strategy of what we did.

It looks like we had specific players in mind and got those players. I think in recent drafts we have gone more with filling needs rather than best player.

Stack is the main one. Serious talent but the kid must have some massive off field issues to not get drafted at all. Its a real shame as he's likely lost to the system now.

Munn the other obvious one. I didn't rate him as I considered him a fairly 'dumb' footballer with minimal actual forward craft but I figured someone would give him a chance as he's a great kick. Just not athletic enough and not prepared to work hard to get the ball.

Blanck is unlucky but he's the type that might go back as a 19yo and get drafted like Jordan Butts. Hanrahan another I thought would go. All the others were touch and go.

I was impressed with Woodcock in the SANFL so hoping he can make it as a small forward.

Bit of a misleading title. Although it lists drafts for needs and just basically lists who teams got it doesn't give grades as the title suggests. Probably a better article for that.

Before our trade period I thought we had no hope in hell of picking up a top SA lad in view of our ladder position.

It looked like our neighbours had much more chance to do that or to move up further with the draft hand they had.
I believe our neighbours thought that too, even up to draft day, which is why on refelection Reid said they could have done things better.

We, on the other hand, made some bold moves in the trade period by acting swiftly to improve or own hand. We were brave, some said reckless, and we did well rather than thinking that on draft night we could easily wrest picks off GCS or Carlton or Saints etc.

Very happy with those fresh faces at our club. Schofield and co should be licking their lips. Do your magic fellas.

Not sure about 2019 with such a massive player turnover in24 months but going forward there is hope. Glad a camp has been organised.

Yes Ken lets get some fast exciting footy going forward to complement our defence. Yes players show good application and attitude. Another star or two will be revealed but teamwork is just as important.

I thought Tom Lewis looked like a gun mid! Maybe there is no room in the afl for big bummed mids?

I really liked Dillon O'Reilly and he went undrafted.

I would have thought Smallwood or Sampson were higher rated than Cox but good luck to him.

After the first round, this draft really became a lottery. We played it well.

I love that we added so many great kids.
