We suck at T20. Don't pretend otherwise.
A yet we continue to throw money at it like a drunken sailor at the expense of traditional test cricket.

good post, . Like all other countries why dont we keep it simple , and develop a separate t20 team.Australia started T20 behind the game and have stayed there. Remember when we played Andrew Johns in domestic T20 games? Or when the players were miked up and cracking gags whilst in play? Or when McGrath bowled underarm in a T20 against NZ? Or, probably in the same series, players played in retro gear? How have Australia and NZ gone since? Zero world T20 titles and only one T20 Final appearance. We treated it like a joke and have been a joke since. Even the much vaunted BBL has probably been below standard since its inception. The Australian attitude has improved, but so has everyone else's. So, we've focussed on Test cricket instead. Good, but how's that going?
We can't compete at this level.
I think that’s what we’ve tried, the separate team. The problem is.. the 11 in the test side are the only international quality players in the country at the moment.. the rest are state at best. Should just continue to pick the same 11-13 for every game until we can develop a bit more quality depth in the state league. Could maybe make a case for the Marshes to sit out occasionally given their dodgy injury history and the fast pace of t20, but our front line players should be playing as many international games as possible.. whether that’s test, odi or t20. If they get injured playing a t20 then so be it, s**t happens in sport, just organise the t20s after the tests so we can take them seriously at the very least.good post, . trying to use some players as a warm up for test i a no no
CA has heaps of cash ,
It’s crazy how excited these Indians get over a game or winning it. They are playing for a meaningless drawn series.
If I was to support like that at the cricket or the footy, people would assume I wasn’t all there.
Calm down it ain’t that great.

CA would spin it and say "the team is under performing b/c we don't play enough T20, so we extended the BBL season. "
On Chris Lynn, I think if anything the BBL has stunted his development. He's capable of being world class imo, but with the low standard of BBL bowling he doesn't have to hold himself to that standard to succeed. What are we learning from the BBL? Ratings spiked. That's great. But the national team hasn't improved one iota. Now, there's the whole question of the worth of international T20s, but forgetting that, BBL appears to be a local money-spinner but not much else.
The players play so dumb. Chris Lynn looks a case in point. D'Arcy Short likewise - his dismissal tonight was completely amateur. Against local state/grade players they're dynamic, but against world class players they're found wanting.
Meanwhile you waste your time on an afl forum complaining about how people support their teams at games. Righto

People who complain about how others support their team are too simple to comprehend that there can be people culturally different to them.
It’s even worse when it’s well known that Indians love their cricket.

They are the same kind of people who also say "Look at them celebrate like they won the grandfinal lmao" in footy. What would you have them do? Twiddle their thumbs?
If tonight's game had been exactly the same, but against West Indies, the crowd would have been about 12000 and, with Australia losing the atmosphere would have been morgue-like. I get that we look at it as being a bit unhinged but at least someone is looking at it with some excitement.
India only has cricket - which it happens to be really good at. No wonder they carry on about it. We have cricket, soccer, union and we suck at all of them. Thank goodness we have the women's team, but no one seems to care too much about them either.

I’ve had such a hard time trying to work out where Kohli fits in to the pecking order of players I’ve watched.
He’s a dick, so that makes it tough to not be prejudiced. He plays for a team I don’t like so that adds to it. On the flip side he epitomises a lot of things I like in that he is never - on an individual level at least - an excuse maker or one to dodge responsibility. It makes it hard to get a read on him.
But f*** me he has to be up there with Lara, Warne, Waugh, Laxman, Steyn, Du Plessis, De Villiers, Viv, Border as simply the players who were just impossible to crack mentally. It is phenomenal how often he just does what he has to do.
Statistically he's incredible - averages near 55 in Test cricket, near 60 in ODis and near 50 in T20s. In an era short on genuine stars, Kohli is phenomenal across all formats. Shame he seems to be so unlikable off the pitch but by the end of his career he'll sit easily with anyone from any era aside from Bradman (who obviously never played any international cricket except Test and never played a Test outside of Australia or England)

Focussed on Test cricket? Really?
I tend to treat T20 with the ignorance it deserves, but the one thing I do remember is some NZ guy with massive hair. Can't recall who that was. I guess it left an indelible impression on me that the game wasn't meant to be taken seriously.
So I take it Australia lost tonight? Oh well, not to worry, nobody will remember the game in 48 hours from now.
