True. It's just an attempt at quantifying things.

Eagles who didn't play were Gaff (19/175 games), Naitanui (15/161), Sheppard (23/154), Nelson (10/42), Ah Chee (8/35), Waterman (16/16), McInnes (3/14), Petrucelle (3/3), Ainsworth (3/3), Allen (2/2), Brander (1/1).

e.g. Adelaide 1997 were missing Ricciuto (21/312), McCartney (6/182), Modra (25/165), Vardy (24/137), Liptak (7/116), Standfield (13/111), Tregenza (10/106), Chalmers (8/75), Ormond-Allen (18/50), Collins (6/43), Viska (2/33), Cook (4/8), Williams (7/7), Gilligan (3/3).

The Adelaide group is stronger for mine (granted that some of the Eagles have their careers ahead of them).

There must be 90 weagles fans with mindboggling delusions of grandeur on this board....
What’s better; 90 people voting ‘yes’ on a poll or supporters of the premiership side starting threads every 5 minutes for the next 10 months harping on about how great their side is?

I mean both are good, but only if its Eagles ;)

You missed one, Eric McKenzie

Was best 22 last year but his foot injury ruined him this year and forced his retirement.

Fair enough. Only counted players who'd played senior games during the season.

Stretching it a little further, it could be claimed that McGuinness, McDermott, Jarman and Anderson were forced into retirement in the twelve months leading up to the 1997 flag.

McKenzie was on the list though in 2018.

The only thing remotely miraculous about the Tigers flag was the fact they came 13th the year before, but when you consider they made finals every year from 2013 onwards bar 2016, not so much. End of the day they had 2 finals against higher ranked teams at their own home ground, which meant they inherently had an easier path to the flag. They also had as healthy of a list as a grand finalist could have. Great win no doubt, but don't think it qualifies for miraculous.
2016 was the year of the Dogs flag not the tigers

I’m glad WC supporters are enjoying their time in the sun with Sammy Mitchell. His genius was stamped all over this year’s flag

I agree. The bloke is a bloody legend. Happy to utilise his talents to get us a premiership. We will miss the sh#t out of him next year. The rocket he gave the mids at 3/4 time of that Semi Final was the tipping point. He will be a great coach in his own right soon.
