"Virat Kohli will lead India's Test outfit to Australia next month, not only as the world's number-one ranked team but carrying overwhelming expectation of an unprecedented series victory on Australia’s turf.

The upheaval that has vastly altered Australia's playing personnel and on-field aura means India are favoured to end 70 years of failure on the continent where they’ve not won a Test series in 11 previous attempts, stretching back to their first tour against Don Bradman's men in 1947-48.

Perhaps more potently, India touring teams have found travelling to Australia as alien and intimidating as have their arch-opponents when faced with the confounding conditions of the sub-continent.

The fundamental differences in culture and character between two countries so inextricably linked by their passion for cricket is a compelling narrative explored in the two-part series 2 Nations, 1 Obsession that premieres on Fox Cricket next month."

Should be good looking forward to it.

Watched both parts and was quite impressed at the production quality. Would have liked some input from more high profile Indian cricketers from recent times (surely they could have done better than Mohammad Kaif and Murali Kartik?). Anyway it was a good watch and it’s got me pumped for the summer ahead.

2001 deserves a lot more.

I was surprised that they didn't talk about the 2003, 2011, and 2015 WC battles.

Also Shastri really is a piece of work.

Reckon Shastri had a few Kingfishers under the belt before his interview.

I watched and was quite impressed. Shastri is a jerk though.

Wish we'd heard from someone like Dravid though, who is the Indian cricketer I easily have the most respect for and find the most compelling to listen to.

Shastri referring to 'Spicy Australian women' made me queasy. Also spare a thought for Murali Kartik's neck. That bead necklace looks suffocating.

The indian sporting public care far for more deeply about cricket than the Australian public where the sport is a secondary one
lol, Australia is the most cricket mad country outside the subcontinent. You could argue that we are just as if not more passionate about Test cricket than any other country on earth, particularly if you look at crowd numbers. Granted Aussie rules is more popular in half the country but it doesn’t compete head on with cricket anyway.

We follow a hell of a lot more sports than India but that doesn’t make cricket a secondary sport at all. All over the country it is an integral part of our cultural fabric.

Like in England, football is the number one passion of the public

Australia wide, cricket would be here. Afl has huge crowd numbers but by and large there are about 10 million people north of the Murray who simply don’t give a s**t. Likewise those south of it don’t care about league. The common factor is cricket.

No we're not

Its following same trend here as in England

Football dominates. Cricket is reduced to 3 months of the year.

In India cricket is the dominant sport. Its head in the sand to think Australia is the same

We follow more sports and we don’t have a billion people living here, so yes we obviously have fewer people following cricket here. Not sure why you think anyone is arguing otherwise. To make the argument that cricket is a secondary sport in Australia off the back of the fact that the likes of Steve Smith and David Warner are able to walk down the street without getting mobbed by thousands of people like Virat does in Delhi is asinine.

The average Australian sports fan doesn’t care about limited over cricket anywhere near as much as Indians do but we do pull in the highest Test crowds in the world.

Its an interesting time for cricket this country

I genuinely feel we are shifting and the sport has become boutique.

It will be shown in this test series when it will become almost.embarrassing that team support at the ground will be predominantly indian.

This is happening in England.

Its not wrong. Its just simpy is.

Australian sporing public will tune in and there will be pockets with intense interest (test cricket is great) but the reality is our support is largely indifferent

Appreciate and understand you.feel differently. Like the debate.

Happy to be shot down in flames

Boutique?
There are 8 teams that don’t even really exist who play each other in a dozen or so meaningless matches each every summer that draw huge crowds. Those sides don’t represent nations, they represent made up franchises.

Domestic team rivalry ( as in 20-20) seems to draw better crowds than international cricket

The 50 over games crowds last few years.have been embarrassing
