the idea behind the new races are good but to be honest just makes the rest of the races in the state look stupid.

3 years back RNSW rolled out the QE, the supposed WFA championship of australiasia outside the cox plate and also the TJ Smith the best WFA sprint race in i would say the world. both of these races combined are now worth less than a mile race for 4yo's that D'Argento would have probably won this year.

i'm happy with the mix up in racing but when you look at it like that it just seems gimmicky.

upgrade the actual star races. WFA is a beautiful time tested thing now i don't see a open and standard WFA near the top of the prizemoney table.

upgrade the slipper at a minimum at least we are a 2yo sprinting nation.

make the doncaster 15mil or something stupid, at least it's open age and what would have been the last 4yo genuinely outweighted in that, So You Think? worst thing is he still would have gone close with our glorified SWP races.

Just scrap all the races and start again.
no competition between states, no made up group 1s so horses can win and retire after winning a glorified group 3 like the golden rose (come at me!). no group 1 Orr and Mensie 2 weeks apart which is basically the same race, no Rosehill and Australian guineas on the same day to split the group 1s. Let there be a sydney Autumn pinnacle carnival. and a Melbourne Pinnacle carnival. And let all the good horses aim at the same race no avoid each other cos they can win something weaker and not lose value.
Forget having Sydney around Easter, have it on set dates so there is continuity, Piss off the gold coast malarkey. they are restricted races, if you want good horses run them for hte same money but open to all. As for Brisbane Adelaide and Perth. they have found their spots, just less bullshit group 1s please.

My ideal scenario -

Would love 2 G1’s of every standard distance range 1 in Autumn 1 in spring all WFA.

2 and 3yo’s get their own group 1’s alongside it and minnow states get the mares races or odd distance ranges or handicaps.

Everything else is massive prize money G2’s

Yup which is the dumbest metric of all time. The fact we have so many more G1 races than all the European jurisdictions is absolutely ludicrous.

G1s should 100% be a set a number rather than a set share of racing.

yes, using HK as a basic example. they buy winners as a start so worse case their entire racing population bar a few is better than our bottom 40%. then America, Germany and a lot of europe their slow ones don't get to a start. in theory we should have the lowest G1's to population in the world of the major racing nations.

although there is no chance of the racing bodies asking for this to increase the intrigue of each race. they would prefer every race labeled a group 1 so the regular punters get out of their seat and throw away their money. Or in some cases just have more G1's than the other state.

According to ANZ's new problem gambler policy, credit card holders won't be able to use more than 85 per cent of their available credit while making punts through online gambling accounts.

The policy only applies to internet gambling as punters are already not allowed to draw down on their credit cards at gaming venues.
