Apart from Maxwell’s 270 he hit last season he hasn’t done anything worthy of a test recall.

Pretty short of options though, plus Finch didn't set the world on fire during the last Sheffield Shield either.

Maxwell is a terrific fielder as well.

I don't rate Maxwell all that highly either so when I'm suggesting his recall then things have gotten pretty desperate.

It's getting to the point where thawing Watson out of retirement is almost an attractive option. I'd legitimately have more confidence in him even now than I have in Smarsh.

He bowled it very wide. Surely knew it was angling in. I think he needs to be better

He wasn’t that wide of the crease. The initial angle wasn’t angled in, ie out of the hand it looked very wide, them swung heaps and then seamed.... I’ll try a post a pic

Yep, this is it. I could sit and watch Kohli bat and thoroughly enjoy it, but the rest of his package just annoys the hell out of me.
I could even respect the over the top aggression if he kept it on the field, but he has a habit of going to the press when he gets it back, which makes it seem more like petulance than passion.

Wade is more deserving of a recall based on form in the last 12 months than Maxwell.

Unless we need a specialist fielder I couldn’t care less about that given our dire situation when it comes to our batting stocks.

Question if I may. Why is it that the only possible changes are to juggle the order to keep finch in when it is not deserved or to bring in Maxwell. Victorians both. Plenty of bias being shown.
There are other states folks. We need to look to the future and that does not include marsh, finch or maxwell. Paine is also a stopgap. The older guys have had their chance. Go with blokes with a few aeasons in shield under their belt and pump skills and mental strenght into them. Rotating failed batsmen because they got 100 last week solves nothing.

Ryegrass?? Really? I'd bet my left nut that they're couch. The only FC rye grass wickets that I know of are at Bellerive. I went to a curator's show one night and Les Burdett was there and this old bloke says to Les "How do you get ryegrass to strike over there (Adelaide)?" Les goes "I don't - it's a ******* weed!"

Oh okay.. strange. I heard from the horses mouth that it was rye a few months ago, that's the outfield I'm talking about.

On Finch, after his showing in the UAE it's not reasonable to drop him, even though he absolutely didn't deserve the call-up in the first place. It's annoying, but it would set an even worse precedent to put anyone on the chopping block after doing well then failing once regardless of wider context in my opinion.

Why does kohli get so much praise for his over the top celebrations and Warner got blasted for his over the top celebrations
Because people have long memories and India is still regarded as the underdog by most, at least in comparison to Australia, and the underdog gets leeway to behave badly. Although another factor is that Kohli is generally celebrating team achievements, Warner overcelebrates his own milestones, which is always more annoying if that kind of thing gets under your skin.

Exact same double standard would be Wahab Riaz getting in Shane Watsons face after giving him some chin music in the World Cup, I can't imagine that Starc doing the same to Misbah-ul-Haq would have been greeted with the same enthusiasm by the people who praised Wahab's passion.

I reckon the issue is confidence. The team as a whole is on the back foot due to the witch hunt of earlier this year and their careful PR tactics required feel as though they've filtered into the batting and we're just not scoring. It's certainly not the most talented team to represent Australia in recent times, but they've done really well get through the full day in what seem to be somewhat tricky conditions. They just haven't been able to score. Hope the public really get behind the team, obviously its difficult since the most vocal tend to be those who want to tear the team down.
