Agree - the result of next year pales in comparison to what it now means for Doc

2nd ACL almost exactly a year after he did the first. Prior that that he was indisputably the best half-back in the league. Has it all as a player - skill, courage, leadership, resilience and an obvious investment in the squad and club as a whole.

Hope he gets back to playing games and can re-launch his career.

Yeah I’m really not sure how anyone could blame the club.

It’s been well over a year of recovery since his first. He’s been training for ages.

Once you do a knee the first time you’re at much greater risk of doing it again.

Just look at Nic Nat. Pretty sure he was carefully managed and rehabbed for much longer than Docherty. And his knee gave out in the most innocuous of incidents this year.

Collingwood (look at Elliot they can't ever get him right), GWS would've won a flag if it wasn't because of injury. West Coast lost a few and won a flag as well. GC injury city.... not just us, but we tend to lose our most important senior players who we least can afford to.

If it was a soft tissue injury or something then yeah I’d agree.

But ACLs and reoccurrences happen at plenty of sporting clubs with top notch medical staff.

I always was worried about how Doc would go long term. Seen knees go on players again. Didn’t think it would happen before he even got back on the bloody field though.

my good feelings about the upcoming season have suddenly taken a hit. Wish you a fast recovery Doc.

All I can say though is we have not seen the last of him. not sure why anyone would think this. Elite player only 25 years old and Captain of the footy club, no way he is giving up (look at his character) and no way the club is letting him go. He will be back.
