I prefer Keath over Hartigan , has a bit more of an attacking nous.
Knight v Rat is interesting. Really like knights aggression, like Rats skill. Lineball IMO.

Keath also hits targets and doesnt lose his mind under pressure.
Knight is the better pressure player by far. Although Mchenry may push Knight in time.

Love the guy but I don’t want us playing Tex, Jenkins, Lynch and Fogarty up forward. Happy if they prove me wrong but it’s too slow and doesn’t provide enough defensive pressure.

We need Knight and Gallucci at the very least to support Betts. And I’m keen to get Murphy/Jones/McAdam/McHenry in the XXII as well.

Assuming the following are fit:

B: Luke Brown, Daniel Talia, Tom Doedee,
HB: Rory Laird, Kyle Hartigan, Brodie Smith
C: Paul Seedsman, Rory Sloane, Wayne Milera,
HF: Tom Lynch, Taylor Walker, Shane McAdam
F: Eddie Betts, Josh Jenkins, Hugh Greenwood
FOLL: Sam Jacobs, Matt Crouch, Brad Crouch
I/C: Bryce Gibbs, Jordan Gallucci, Richard Douglas, Alex Keath.

First emergency: Riley Knight.

Had me until Keath, don't think we play Talia, Hartigan & Keath in the same side. last 2 are interchangeable and I haven't decided which is better yet so happy to go with status quo of Harto.
I think Knight in, Keath emergency but with injury cloud over Talia and Harto will probably play for one of those 2.

The team is pretty close to what the coaches would think with Kelly, Atkins not appearing in yours and no doubt, McAdams selection will depend a lot on what he can show before being selected in an AFL team, his pre season games will determine if he gets a gig as will a lot of players like Fog, CEY, Mackay, Pohlkoke, Galluci , Himmelberg , Stengle , then I don't suppose you listed Gibbs on the bench although there is no way in hell you leave him out of a starting 18 proven star player

Those players that have not established themselves will determine if they are worthy and capable of playing round 1 in the pre season games, as opposed to those players that have the runs on the board, I believe Atkins has proven himself to be able to play AFL footy.

So no Fogarty ?

So no Fogarty ?
Forgarty is an interesting one. He could come in for Keath who I named on the bench and that would give us an extra tall (Doedee is not a true third tall defender even though his intercept marking is good) should any of them get injured during the game, need resting or if we are stretched in that area. However, with Walker in the side Fogarty would have to have demonstrated that he has built up enough of a tank and that his field play and disposal under pressure has improved enough for him to play multiple positions apart from being just a key forward.

players like Fog who simply haven't proven themselves and like McAdam will simply need a big pre season in those games to get a gig round 1 not so those players that have played over the last 3 years like Atkins
With McGovern out ....do we go tall (Fog) or small (McAdam) .......will be interesting to see how the team structures up in the JLT

McAdam, by a long way. And if he's not fit, then someone like Lachie Murphy for now.

I froth over the rise of the Fog, but at this stage I'd only like to see him in the midfield or across HB helping out the defence. No room for him in a forward line with Lynch, JJ and Tex (unless he's become super fit and super mobile over the summer miraculously).

Small Tall wont be the issue, the player can show the best form, pointless having Mcadam if he isn't up to AFL standard running around out there but the same goes for Fog
Yes I know that ... but the club will have a preferred structure

I’m a bit excited about Murphy, looks in ripping condition

I'm thinking that the 6/6/6 system will move us even further away from a top heavy forward line, despite us rolling the dice and going with the overly tall structure in the past.

Particularly if, as predicted, the game speeds up next year

Yes they will have a preferred structure

But is Murphy up to the standard required very unproven inability mcadam may or may not be a better option

Hell otten had a great 2017 when we pretty much had a great side and he was a solid part of it

Are we challenging next year or developing is probably the bug question , after finishing 12th

And i have to say, i'd forgotten how ******* scary our team is at full strength. Would it be the strongest side we'd fielded in a year or more? Add Daniel Talia and Look. The. *. Out.

Stiff to miss out: Riley Knight, David Mackay, Shane McAdam, Jordan Gallucci
