After picking up a 25 year old 2x AA, a promising future top 10 pick, gun wingman and best endurance player in the game, and regaining an AA defender from injury - the Hawks who finished top 4 last year will somehow tumble down the ladder to a ridiculous degree.

Oh - the author is also predicting a gameless season for Tom Scully who is performing training drills in the pre-season and showing signs of improvement.

The jealousy is rife…

They are taking the piss out of Johnstone and Del Santo. Mind you johnstone did predict freos demise and got ridiculed for it

Not that no-ones putting their name to these 'predictions' - just dropping a load of names (if Dal Santo is in fact a name)

I'm under no illusions about our list, and I don't think we are yet in a position to challenge. But to suggest we are in the bottom four teams in the competition is either wishful thinking or just a terrible understanding of the personnel on our list. Can't wait to prove them all wrong - again.

So much salt.

Can't wait to see the main board when Scully gets up and running.
There’s already posters suggesting footage of him running on Hawthorn social media channels is fake. :rainbow:

For us to finish in the bottom 4 next year (lets be generous and assume 14th position) we'd have to be overtaken by among others Fremantle, Bulldogs, Brisbane, Norf and Port.

Yeah its plausible in an ultra-even competition that one of those teams may happen to go past us, maybe even two or three should we suffer a horror year of injuries, but the odds all five will finish higher is nothing but wishful thinking on the part of a likely Hawk-hater. That the same article is openly hopeful Essenscum* makes the top 4 reinforces this.

Imagine if one of these idiots dared chirpily predict a bottom 4 finish for Sydney, they'd have their AFL Accreditation revoked in a heartbeat. Yet the $wines are a one-man-team and that one man is already looking shaky, as anyone who caught their hillarious finals performance might testify. Oh but any criticism of the beloved Swans must be mutedly issued in the mildest tones possible - because the TV Rights value won't grow itself and legacy media is increasingly reliant on sports ratings. How I loathe the politics of the AFL as much as the politics of BigFooty.

I still haven't heard a good analysis of why Hawthorn would finish 14th or 15th. It would have to be a big drop from 4th. The only line that is constant from the media is that the Hawks will have 9 players over 30. Not sure how that's relevant.
