I suppose being the employer there they can influence that. but surely theres an obligation to keep that person employed there as long as that person wants.

Job volatility is a key for skilled migrants wanting to immigrate . Its hard enough without instability. I guess the figures are substantial numbers of migrants do change jobs pretty quickly. There needs to be a ready supply.
And those starting up a business with capital? Its just not practical

what are you talking ? heart surgery, brain surgery, cancer treatment etc are all done in private hospitals and the patient gets to select their own surgeon.

I have never been to hospital but my parents and grandparents have and they all say private hospitals are much better.

Mate the simply reality is that like private schools they have more money, its just that simple.

None of this is correct.

Much of the equipment required for major surgery, various kinds of imaging and treatment is incredibly expensive, well beyond the private sector in Australia to cover, likewise most top surgeons, especially those who double as research Dr.'s primarily work through the public system, but do (some) private surgery.

I think you are a bit confused about capitalism and socialism, capitalism simply means as much should be done by the private sector as possible and what the private sector can not or will not do should be done by the government.

A socialist is fundamentally a collectivists who puts the collective before the individual. Under socialism the individual is held back and stifled by the collective.

I am not a scientist and don't pretend to be, however I can smell a con job, and we are being conned.
Professor Tim Flannery, the guy that said there would be no more rain in QLD, and all of this other alarmist rubbish.
He then conned Gillard into giving him a grant to set up a Geothermal project which was in Flannery's expert opinion. was a no brainer to succeed.
$80 million in tax payer money the project was shut down as a complete failure. Investors lost a lot of money. Bet you Flannery didn't.

Ironically at the peak of warning us of rising sea levels, inevitable doom, Flannery bought himself a house on the Hawkesbury River. How convenient.
Finally the comment that Flannery made on Steve Price radio show on the now defunct MTR, which received very little coverage. If humans eradicated Co2 emmisions overnight, it would still take over 900 years to clear these so called dangerous emmissions from the atmosphere. Lefties never talk about that.

The book "Fantasyland" by Kurt Andersen is very good on how America came to this.
