Ps Siddle must be one hell of a brown noser....

Fair to say I am not impressed. As a Melbourne Stars foundation member this happens to us every year. We lose 4 players this year our best 4 players in the team and we have to play the top of the ladder Hurricanes too which HAVE NO PLAYERS SELECTED. This is ridiculous. They take our captain and vice captain we have no other leader in our team so what are we going to do now??? I am so angry with the selectors and this decision that they have made.

Peter Siddle? Amazing. Hasn't played a ODI in 8 years, and his List A game was back in 2017.

Plus they cant use both Zampa and Lyon. Only pick one.

"Nathan is the best off-spin bowler in the world and we've noted how successful teams around the world have been using a two pronged spin attack in the right conditions in white ball cricket, something we are very mindful of heading to the World Cup," Hohns said.

Looks weak - no Starc, Cummins or Haze in the attack? Sure they need a rest, but they can be rotated rather than banished.

Lyon, Zampa or Maxwell as the spinning options. Stoinis or M Marsh as the 4th pace option.

Not a very strong batting line-up either - the usual suspects - Finch, S Marsh, Khawaja to scartch around at the top of the order in the PP.

I mean sucks to be a Stars member i spose? What do you want CA to do about that? Same has always been the same with Shield and the One day tournaments as well, players want to play for Australia and State teams need to deal with that.

Those 3 are very solid batting options in one day cricket. I think we have gotten the mix right for the first time in a very long time.

When we loaded up on 'typical white ball specialists' Lynn, Short, McDermott we would just end up crumbling and not having enough players able to construct an innings.

We have 3 or 4 of those mixed in with 3 or so explosive batsman that can take a game away from the other team. Not a perfect team but an improvement on what has been dished up recently.

We’ve been getting pumped with Starc, Cummins and Hazlewood in the ODI side. They’re not that big of a loss.

I’m disappointed Pattinson wasn’t selected especially over ******* Siddle.
What better opportunity to get him back in the national system then a ODI series.
Selectors are aweful

Not sure why Siddle is there? Good to see Usman back in there and glad Lynn and Short have been dropped, I think T20 is more their thing, need more guys that can build an innings.

All though he was terrible last series, I think Travis Head is fairly unlucky and I'm surprised to see Handscomb there.

I mean the Stars could just not sign players they know are going to be picked for Australia? Other than maybe Handscomb you have to know these players are going to be picked for Australia. The BBL is a second-tier competition, Australia should always take precedent.

Players not being able to play domestic cricket because of international cricket is nothing new.

Really though, the scheduling is all wrong, we should be playing the T20 comp at the end of the season when all other cricket is finished, just like they do in India.

Short peeled off 257 in a domestic one dayer earlier this season, so I don't know if he can be pigeonholed as only a t20 player just yet.

Siddle’s probably been picked to play the role they wanted Hastings to play before his illness caused him to retire. They gave Tye a crack and he didn’t perform consistently, so now they’ve gone to Siddle, who’s become a much better white ball bowler than people give him credit for.

I think if we did BBL after all the international fixtures, it would have stadium clashes with AFL.

Makes sense to drop the #1 wicket taker in the JLT for a bloke who didn't feature...

All academic anyway. When the WC starts we'll go straight back to Starc, Haze, Cummins bowling short pitched trash.

Tests - Nov-Jan
SS/ODD - Oct-Jan
ODI's Jan
Big Bash Jan-Feb

We'd have clashes with the big bash and ODI's early but everyone would be available for the business end.

Players pushing for test selection would actually be playing FC cricket

AFL season starts end of March

All of these seamers minus Behrendorff have awful List A averages. They are going to get taken apart.

I'm excited to see Richardson. 32 wickets @ 33 isn't too bad for your first 11 List A matches. Strikes at 36, too. For a weedy kid that's 5'10'' he bowls with serious heat.

Actually had a poor JLT Cup this year but in true CA fashion he is being rewarded for Shield/BBL form.
