I almost fell like people don’t want to give Wade another shot even though he currently deserves a go back on form (as a batsman not a keeper) because he comes across as a flog.

I’d rather we pump some in form flogs with a bit of an up yours mentally into the team that would help us show a winning mentality and a bit of fight, rather than some of these run of the mill form, pathetic, weak, feeble minded, nice guys who are too scared to express themselves because of the Cape Town incident.

This team is crying out for some characters that show some fire. Maybe we should just throw both Maxwell and Wade back in there as well as Pattinson when he is ready to return. Renshaw to open with Harris, Khawaja and either Head/Burns 3 and 4. Maxwell/Labaschagne to fight it out for 5 and act as a part time spinner to help Lyon out. Wade 6, Paine 7, Cummins 8, and have Pattinson come in for either Starc or Hazlewood, Lyon.

Yes, some real aggression with the likes of Warner, Wade and Pattinson, the type that can really get into the opposition. This nice guy s**t is winning us nothing as Michael Clarke said before the Test Series.

So now you're shifting the goalposts to a 30 Test minimum.

Want to narrow it down more? How about worst player over 6 foot from WA who debuted against Sri Lanka to play at least 30 Tests for Australia this decade.
It's what I said the entire time. I said name a worse player with at least 30 tests. I've said this exact same thing at least 4 times already.

It's not what you said in the post I was responding to.

Shaun Marsh and Mitchell Marsh are arguably two of the worst players to play test cricket for Australia this decade. I call it as it is, not because they're a couple of clowns from WA.

It's not what you said, it was a shifting of the goalposts and a silly one at that. Did you know Ricky Ponting and Steve Waugh are the worst players to have played more than 160 Tests for Australia in forever?

Sure, but plenty have played 30 tests for Australia.

And I've already pointed out why that is a stupid caveat.

Your "Hot takes 'r us" shtick is getting pretty boring.
If that concerns you so, let's move the goal posts to say 15 tests.

High level performance does not translate to being a total dick. There are more players around that are very good players and still decent, than total dickheads.

Pujara and Bumrah were the best two players in the series by a long way and they just got on with the game. No 'real aggression" bollocks ! Pants was vocal, but not aggressive and he was terrific. Being a dickhead is massively overrated.

You must have a time machine to be able to confidently assert that the Marshes are definitively worse than players like Gary Cosier, Ian Davis, Andrew Hilditch, Graeme Hole, Tommy Andrews, Bruce Laird, Charlie McLeod, Vic Richardson (you can throw in Les Favell as well just to really annoy Chappelli), Greg Ritchie (or even Greg Blewett if you so wish), Peter Toohey and Tom Veivers.

Challenge accepted:

Specialist batsmen, 15 or more tests, post-WWII only, with a worse batting average than Shaun Marsh (34.31)

Greg Blewett 46 tests
Paul Sheahan 31
Matthew Elliott 21
Geoff Marsh 50
Phillip Hughes 26
Graeme Wood 59
Peter Toohey 15
Andrew Hilditch 18
Ed Cowan 18
Michael Bevan 18
Les Favell 19
Ian Davis 15
Graeme Hole 18
John Dyson 30

NB: Wayne B Phillips 27 has a batting average lower than Shaun Marsh, but he averaged 40 when not keeping so I'l leave him off the list.

Geoff batted all day at Trent Bridge once. He wasn't pretty but he was a real grafter.
Strangely was my favourite cricketer growing up, probably due to a healthy does of WA bias.

Just on Shaun for a bit, was browing ye olde cricinfo stats and notices he averaged 43 under Smith but only 16 under Paine. Also averages 42 batting at 5 and 25 batting at 4.

Probably not a good look, but he averages far more when there's someone competent at the other end basically.

There was lots of whinging back then over Matthew Elliot being 'robbed' by selectors of another Test spot, funny stuff.

Oh come on, Blewett, Elliot, Cowan, Bevan and Hughes were definitely better. Sure, they sucked just as bad with the bat, but at least they didn't go 14 innings in a row batting like they had two left feet.

So does any batter. Takes the pressure off and he's someone that has really struggled with pressure and the weight of expectation. Just look at his innings vs India - made his only half-century of the series when the match was virtually dead-and-buried in Adelaide, then made a decent 40 on the only good day to bat in Perth, then knocked his next 40 when there was no hope of a result.

When the Aussies needed him to stick around and do something, anything: 2, 5, 8 & 19 - three of those were first innings scores. That's just not anywhere near good enough for a top-6 batsman. With him in the lineup, 2-down is practically 3-down. It's something supporters have said for a long time. When he's on, he looks superb, but it's so far in between, that his lack of confidence severely inhibits his technique. You've just got to see his dismissal percentage of LBW and bowled to confirm it.

Only because they played in a stronger era where you were replaced quicker if you weren't a gun.

So really your problem is with the current state of Australian cricket, not Marsh.
