It’s very weird GUN but most of us don’t feel like we are ‘suffering’ any more. There’s just too much to like. Too many good kids to watch.

It’s only a matter of time now before we are back to our annoying cocky arrogant best and you’ll be able to hate us with a passion again!

Its always this way in the pre season , But when we get to Round 4 on wards the suffering is extremely apparent , Currently every kids a star
5 rounds in i will be reading how certain kids are not upto this level and to bring back Lang etc

I don't think so and not when discussing the midfield.
The core is in place with Cripps, ECurnow and Murphy. Most CFC people would like to see the latter two weened off primary duties to some degree, but if nothing else this will be the fall-back starting trio. We don't want it to get there but if it does, we'll move quick enough.

We know Fisher & Dow are up to it.
Walsh is up to it, but does have to prove himself, as for any player that hasn't racked up a game yet.
We haven't seen continuity with Kennedy nor Setterfield, but they are quality. Different types, but both make for a good fit for our needs.
One more quality senior player wouldn't have hurt, but it wasn't to be. The younger guys will simply need to be rotated a little more.

There won't be any panic where our young midfield is concerned. There can't be as the older guys we had, are now long gone.

Still only 23 and dealt with a lot of injuries. No-one thinks he'll ever be a star, but he tackles well and could be a solid contributor especially when we need senior bodies.
Might be ok for 1-2 years but wouldnt think he is a player long term that would have a spot in the starting 22 once a few of the kids get 50 games under their belts.

Players i see not at Carlton in 2021 (Maybe 3-4 might improve and stay but would expect 80% gone)
Simpson
Kreuzer
Murphy
Jones
Lang
Schumacher
Garlett
Cunningham
Polson
Lobbe
Phillips
Pickett
Fosolo
Casboult
Thomas

Maybe
Ed Curnow
Jsos

Pickett, Schumacher and Cunners I hope can turn it around. No reason why we'd drop Jones, he's still youngish.

The rest I agree.

Largely agree, however I'm sure you are wrong on Cuningham (if he stops getting injured). I'd also suggest there is insufficient data on Polson to make any assessment of where he is headed.

Can also see Curnow playing on at 31. A little limited in some ways, but a widely underated run with player.

Simpson - maybe
Kruezer - 30 in 2021 so no.
Murphy - 31 and has a contract for 2 more years. Should be getting a 1 year contract from then on and playing small forward or small defender.
Jones - end of contract year this year. Had an elite year last time according to champion data.
Lang - gone as others should go past him. But happy to be surprised.
Schumacher - 19 year old
Garlett - this year he needs to show something.
Cunningham - ditto, will show something and get a long extension.
Polson - last round in 2018 needs repeating by 5-6. Bit got a contract extention late last year to end of 2020. Will be here. Highly rated internally. Works his seat off.
lobbe - gone
Phillips - maybe
Pickett - gone
fasolo - should turn it around hopefully and will retire here like Thomas an old man
Casboult - should be gone already but nobody wanted to pay. We didn’t want him in a top 8 teams inside 50 v us, particularly for free as he’d be AA.
Thomas - will retire an old man but gets 1 year contracts like Simpson every year he plays like he did in 2018. Every chance 2019 is his best year in blue.

Maybe
Ed Curnow - no
Jsos - maybe but could turn into solid inside mid depth already adding KGs

Why is a Richmond supporter conducting our list management analysis?

I don't even know where to begin with his assessment. So do player careers end when they hit 30 now?
Been coming over good and bad for over 10 years, Pleased to meet you

Hello friend. You seem to be a bit confused so I thought I would help you out. Mcgrath played majority of the time on a wing in 2018. He also played midfield a lot at junior level. McGrath, Parish, Langford and hopefully Redman are poised to break out in 2019 after developing nicely last season.

Don't be too concerned with that 'midfield depth' section. I just read that article and nearly every team has trash listed there. If a player is decent enough to be part of the midfield rotation they are probably going to be in the best 22 considering how many mids teams like to rotate these days.

Our senior mids will be Shiel, Merrett, Heppell, Smith, Zaharakis and Myers. Our young mids will be Parish, Langford, Mcgrath and Redman (utility that had two good games at AFL level before getting injured last season).
Then there are the forwards/defenders that can rotate through there too.

Clearly that is a top 8 midfield! Afl.com.au have a good handle on things.

We could do with another inside mid sure, but it's a misconception that it is a real weakness. I would rather balanced mids than pure inside mids myself. Unless they are very dominant like Cripps etc and those are hard to find.
I just looked at clearances per game from last season. Essendon has four players in the top 50 which is only behind Adelaide. Parish is #79 and rising. Basically we will have Shiel, Heppell, Merrett, Myers and Parish that are capable of the inside work and all average decent contested possessions. Even Devon Smith has a decent inside game- he was #1 for tackles per game and top 100 for clearances/contested possessions per game.
Then there is Kyle Langford who is improving. He got less time in the midfield compared to those other mids, but he showed quite a bit last season. So while we don't have a inside beast like a Cripps or Oliver, overall we don't have a big weakness on the inside.

For some inexplicable reason we were trash up to round 8, even losing to the wooden spooners. After that our only losses were to top 4 teams. And that was without Shiel and Daniher.
