INVESTIGATORS say a burnt-out car abandoned deep in the bush near where William Tyrrell went missing could be a breakthrough in the case of the missing NSW boy.

The wreck was discovered in the bushland surrounding Kendall on the NSW mid-north coast, just a short drive from the home of William's foster grandmother, where he disappeared from on September 12, 2014.

It is believed the vehicle belonged to Tony Jones, a convicted paedophile who was at one point a person of interest in the little boy's disappearance, Nine's

So an abandoned car close to the location where he was abducted from in bushland that was searched now has an abandoned car appear from nowhere. Yeah this is clickbait.

Any follow up on this? September 18 I would have thought some more clarity on this might have been discovered

This Coroner's Inquest is going to be fascinating....and disturbing. So many POI's. Has there been any update on when it is scheduled as the article suggested in the early part of this year?

You have to answer questions in an Inquest. There will be people like wives forced to answer questions that could perjure themselves into a prison sentence.

The geocache (container with the log book and few other items in it at the base of the stump) in question was placed in July 2012, well before the disappearance of William. It is part of a series of caches hidden by locals placed in the area that lead players on a tour of the Mid-North Coast. The last geocacher to find the container did so on 13/1/2016 and they have relayed information that the spray paint was not there at the time so it is a recent addition to the tree that just happens to unfortunately have been written above a cache hide. A very small amount of research could have uncovered this information as it is publicly available online at geocaching.com. http://coord.info/GC3P1AK

On Sunday, a cryptic message painted on a tree trunk on the NSW mid-north coast led police to lock down the area and send in armed officers and helicopters as they investigated possible links to the abduction.
The pink graffiti reading ‘Jesus saves William Tyrrell’ had been scrawled just above the hiding place of a mysterious glass jar filled with assorted items.
The jar was part of a real-world treasure hunt called “geocaching”, which involves following GPS coordinates posted online to find hidden “caches” — containers containing small trinkets.

Allegedly it is Tony Jones car. What did he tell the police?

His car ends upside down. Pushes it off a flat bed truck? Hire or borrow off a scrappy mate? Hires truck to burn out car. Uh oh!

Two cars seen outside the house hey. Who was driving the other one?

The Inquest will be interesting because wives etc will be asked if they know who might have been driving the second vehicle outside Williams Foster Grandmas house on the day William went missing.
Those questioned will be forced to answer. Perjury comes at a criminal cost.

Looks like a SUV

"The abandoned vehicle resembled the same make and model Mr Jones used to drive, according to the person who discovered it.'

"The relative said Mr Jones was in the bush collecting scrap metal at the time, while Mr Jones told another source he was out using a chainsaw he had borrowed from the local council."

The vehicle was discovered near Mr Jones house. A rather fancy car for a man who collects scrap. It must be a good business.

Nothing appears missing.

Would that imply a planned abduction? I'd thought nobody actually knew William was going to visit, it wasn't something planned in advance.

Williams Foster Grandma had phoned a washing machine repair man prior in anticipation of her foster grandchilds arrival to have her washing machine repaired. The man visited but determined he needed a new part and had to order it. She more than likely explained the reason that she needed her washing machine repaired. Whitegoods man was coming back in the next day or so to repair the machine)

Foster Grandma didn't know William would be arriving a day early, but the washing machine man would have been floating around with the washing machine part. (This timeline and the discussion is crucial. Police would have mapped this).

The washing machine man had met the burned out vehicle man in another town years prior where washing machine man had a shop. Scrap metal man had bought a washing machine off whitegoods man when they lived opposite each other in the other town. They later moved from the other town to this town. Well a few kilometres apart.

Coincidentally, scrap metal man knows bio grandma through his wife. (not implying involvment). This is an answer to Shelly's question and hypothesis.

The washing machine man had deleted records off his phone which might have shown grandmas calls to him in finding out what was going on regarding the part. Washing machine man may have done a fly by or Foster Grandma had explained that the kids arrived a day early.

The possibility is, that washing machine man had made mention to scrappy man that WT to be in town and scrappy did a fly by of Foster Grandmas house at the time, potentially only to find that WT has arrived early. (Police would know all these timelines and phone conversations grandma had with washing machine man, but do note, washing machine man probably knew the high profile Foster Grandma only had one set of grandkids, her husband had died and potentially knew the house was going up for sale, if it wasn't already.)

*Timeline and phone conversations are crucial, but most the detail only known by police.

Mr Jones was living 20 minutes away from Kendall in a town called Wauchope when William disappeared on September 12, 2014.

Police have followed a number of leads but have never charged anyone over William's disappearance.

Mr Jones was living with a relative Katrina at the time, who also appeared on A Current Affair to speak about how they are now estranged.

Katrina said she had never heard of Mr Jones helping out a neighbour on the day of William's disappearance.

Questions have also been raised about a white car belonging to the Jones' family that was previously seized by police for forensic examination.

Mr Jones denied ever using the Toyota car, claiming it was his ex-wife's who never let him drive it.

Katrina said Mr Jones used his ex-wife's car but "with her knowledge? Definitely no".

It's been almost four years since William's disappearance, something Katrina has never felt good about.

"I've never felt right about it from day one," Katrina said.

Katrina said the connections between Mr Jones and a number of other people of interest, such as Bill Spedding, is "insane".

"The connections are just insane, they are almost inexplicable to how they've come about," she said.

Katrina ended with a message for Mr Jones, her estranged relative.

"I'm not accusing anyone of anything but if anything is known, no matter how little it is, for God's sake speak up. It's been nearly four years. Don't let that little boy leave his mum and dad for any longer. The kid deserves to be home," she ended.

Mr Speddings call log would be a timeline for the day. He probably did go for a coffee. However he may not have used the card himself. Everyone knows everyone.

Spedding had called Foster Grandma to say the part had arrived. He had the part in his possession the day, William went missing.

Someone is going to have to lie for someone at the Inquest.

Police seized his telephone records and those of William’s grandmother as they have checked his statement that he had a missed call from the grandmother that morning and tried to call back but could not get through.
A friend of Mr Spedding’s said yesterday that police had questioned Mr Spedding about “why the phone calls were no longer in the call log on his mobile phone.”
Mr Spedding said he then went to Cafe Buzz, 50m from his office in Bold St, Laurieton, where he had a coffee with his wife. The friend said Mr Spedding said he had paid for the coffees via EFTPOS and had obtained a bank statement with the transaction recorded.

The abduction occurred around 10am.

When Mr Jones said he "arrived home at lunchtime drunk", the A Current Affair reporter asked him how he'd be able to confirm his alibi if he was drunk.

"I just told you where I was, fool!" he yelled back.

Mr Jones was living 20 minutes away from Kendall in a town called Wauchope when William disappeared on September 12, 2014.

IF it's his car, he'll say it was stolen and obviously taken bush bashing.

Have you confirmed it is his car yet

Like I asked 2 pages ago

No one can because the car that was the same make and model of someone in one the highest profile cases in Australia who is in the business of scrap metal, was professionally burned so bad near his house, they can't identify the VIN or other identifiers to be his vehicle.
Not even the police, but if his vehicle was present no doubt it could be excluded as his.

VIN numbers are stamped on vehicles, as are engine numbers on engines. They don't burn off. Police will have the VIN and engine numbers from that vehicle, unless they were ground off. Now, why would they be ground off? There could also be other identifying features of the car that will link to its owner.

There's no way ACA haven't checked those numbers.

If police could identify the VIN, we would have an answer. This vehicle has not been burned just to rid DNA, its burned bad, all cooked.

If police could identify the owner via stamps, we would know.

Right now we don't have the answer either way. But is it that crucial. They obviously don't know where his car is.

So whats the chances, near where William went missing. Either way.
