Jealous! I'd love to be able to roast my own but because im only open in the evening I cant justify a big spend on the equipment.

Yeah not really worth it unless you a) are doing decent volume and b) can wholesale a bit. Also takes time!

Could always buy a behmor home roaster and play around - that might be big enough if you do a couple
Roasts and are consistent?

bump!

im looking to buy a hand coffee grinder, conical ceramic burrs
but not much more than say $75

something like this
https://www.coffeebeanery.com.au/product/hario-hand-grinder-column/

anyone have any recommendations?
I had a similar one I used to use as a spice grinder it was to hard to adjust for coffee
I lost it in the move and now have an electric one from aldi I use for spices, still too fiddly for coffee

If I was getting a coffee grinder I would be spending more than double that and have it spit out measured serves to the portafilter.

Cant justify it at the moment I only do 2 a day

Best bang for your buck tbh. Really good machine

Also a Baratza encore works really well

Been drinking iced lattes lately. I prepare the espresso the night before, chuck it in the fridge. Wake up and just add a bit of milk and ice. Quick and tasty.

Dissolve a teaspoon or two of raw sugar in the espresso too - next level

Lose the sugar
add sweet condensed milk and a tray of ice in the blender and you will create an addiction

Had it in Nam and bought a blender for home

Drink 2-3 long blacks a day. Love nothing more than a good cold brew on a warm day though. Anyone got any good recipes/techniques?

Buy one of these bad boys

80g coffee, keep filling until the water is level with the middle of the filter (takes about 5 mins to fill up), leave in the fridge for 16 hours. We strain ours through another rinsed filter paper and bottle it. Keeps for 2-3 weeks when refrigerated

You also want the grind to be quite coarse - like beach sand

Recently bought a Smeg coffee machine. It's great.
