Sam Mitchell's interview on website was interesting when discussing Tom Mitchell, said they'll miss having Tom "for at least the first half of the year". Didn't rule out all year.
Yeah i reckon it was slip of the mouth by Mitchell, i wouldn't be surprised at all if he did make a comeback towards end of the year simply because of Tom's commitment and eagerness to be training already.

Expecting/hoping anything earlier than a 2020 return is a recipe for disappointment. Don’t do it to yourselves.

Agreed. Be pleasantly surprised if he does come back late in the year, but dont hold your breath for it.

The key is that the injury is able to fully heal so he doesnt have issues over the next 60 or 80 years.

That's Burgoyne playing territory... you think Mitch can play for that long as well?

If they get his leg right.

a serious medical question, based on the break in Mid january, when will the bone be fully healed?, not asking when he will play, when will the bone be 100% healed which will enable him to fully weight load?

usualy 6 weeks just for the bone but there would be muscle damage and wastage

If Mitchell’s recovery goes as planned with no delays or any setbacks and the Hawks make it to the finals again then there is a small chance he might play this year.

Mitchell will 100% play again this year. The bone itself would be just about fully healed now. The fact he is already doing light muscle work around the area would suggest he's probably 3 months away from being 100% (as long as there are no setbacks).

POTY

Would adore seeing him back this year but much prefer the club is more cautious than strictly necessary, such is his long-term value to the team.
