Yeah. Didn’t really believe an estimate that can’t decide whether it’s 4 or 8. Narrow it down a bit

He will be back in 1 to 500 weeks

personally i think we need at least 3 genuine mids on the interchange bench. We have enough cover for specialist sml fwd spots with blokes like Lambert, Higgins and Edwards who play through the middle as well as play fwd i dont see the need to name three specialst sml fwds on the ground or bench when we have more than enough players capable of playing in those positions and offer us real flexability.

Take the fwd half looks to me we have three spots taken by talls/medium lynch, JR Balta or Caddy. Caddy could go to the bench because he can play thru the middle and rotate thru the fwd line with several players.Balta is the obvious solution to us giving Nankervis a decent chop out.

It leaves three spots one has to go to Rioli by far our best specialist sml fwd who could go thru the middle if we wish
From there we use players like Lambert, Higgins, Edwards even Graham for the final two spots in the fwd line and they give us flexability by being able to rotate thru the middle. Its still a lot of smalls but by not play too many specialist small fwds it allows us to play more genuine mids. It means non flexible players miss out.

If everyone is fit the fwd half and midfield would go

FF Higgins - Lynch - Balta
HF Rioli - Riewoldt - Edwards

R Nankervis- Martin - Prestia
C Lambert - Cotchin - Grigg ,Ellis, McIntosh when all of the latter three are fit these three will be the options taken by the club with Ellis iffy.

Int Caddy - Ross - Graham - McIntosh/RCD/Ellis all mids Personally i lean toward the bigger bodied mids as i feel we play too many smalls who are limited on what types they can play on.

Getting rid of George and Butler means you are leaving out a lot of run and pressure, with a much taller team

.

A lot of the premiership and minor-prem was build on small forwards and tackling. Getting rid of two of them is a significant change

Rioli stated to the media he wants to play in the middle, Higgins was very successful statistically when onball, CAddy should be there more often with the addition of Lynch.

Going from one main forward option to three is a bit of a step up.
I do like Caddy from centre forward, reminds me a bit of Chapman but not as quick off the mark. Lambert is one of my fav players taking a snap on the run but dunno he’s a forward.
If Balta comes on like we all hope he’s gonna give us so much flexability. Attacking wing/ Defensive Wing/Forward/Ruck.

But one of the best things about Caddy Forward is whoever it is thats a good enough match up to defend Caddy in the 50, won’t be playing on Dusty.

when Lynch is fit theres every chance all of riewoldt lynch and balta will play and if not balta, soldo.

I actually prefer Balta playing fwd over Caddy but theres no reason they both cant float thu the fwd line.so its not such a step up.

Yeah, spose.
I dunno if Caddy would beat Balta in a foot race.
One things for sure we got a good 4/5 mths to give things a go and play the cards in our hand as best we can.
West coast play tall, they go alright.I’m looking forward to seeing how it falls into place, we just still need speed and pressure in the centre and streaming forward and Caddy is smart enough to take defenders out of play.

What exactly is up with cads , is it really an ankle or is that bs and he’s battling stress fractures , longest sprained ankle ever .

I read somewhere he had ankle surgery after the season ended ! Most likely the same ankle & still having issues with it

Play a half or 3 qtrs then back for Port Adelaide leading up to the 2 games in 4 days, could be a blessing in disguise these injuries as our players will be rested.

Some big in's for Port, Grimes, Houli, Caddy then Jack touch and go for Anzac eve, almost back to full strength bar Rance.

Get ourselves to 3-2 after round 5 and we are set up for a charge at top 4 and an away final on the road against Geelong. :D

What a difference this guy made to our forwardline. I never really appreciated the impact he makes to our structures and the leadership he provides to the others around him. I don't accredit all of our forward pressure and unpredictability to Caddy but I do think he changed the dynamics, made sure players were positioned correctly and gave us a second option in the air and on the ground that has been missing this season.
