Society/Culture The terror of 'socialism' being fed as a moral ideology.

On the other hand you have the hypocritical baby boomers who bemoan "socialism" yet were happy to benefit from things like free university education when they were younger.

All the baby boomers I know are all blue collar workers, me included, who mocked the professional uni students, dope smoking pole smokers. Under 30's wouldn't do the back breaking s**t jobs I have done over the last 40 years.

The current Capitalist economy we are entrenched in is unsustainable. It’s a debt driven economy ... 90% of money is created through fractional lending... In fact anything that is sustainable is the enemy of the current capitalist system we are in.
With out population growth the economy will collapse ....
with out “growth” the economy will collapse.
With out banks creating debt through lending the economy collapses...

Just look at the block sizes now being sold... just enough to fit a house on and nothing else... so people can’t become more self sufficient. They must consume.
This system will kill it self,.., it’s unsustainable.
I’m not sure what replaces it.
I don’t think there is any evil central plan to stop people having a vege patch.

Social media has turned into a communist state, when you stop and think about it.

It started out as a backlash against the established msm.

Everyone had a voice, we were all equal, and it was online utopia of open communication and idea exchange.

Now 5 men control the entire internet, and if you disagree with any of them or use the wrong pronoun, they send Kathy Griffin around to kill you and all your high school mates.

Welcome to capitalism.
Fixed that for you.

Right wing over 50s who read News Corp and listen to gobshite talkback radio with a straight face wouldn't recognise or appreciate the irony their lives are better for growing up in a more socialist Australia than we have today.

"But did you know Whitlam something something debt???"

Our health system is broken. Cuba have the best system in the world.

If you can digest that, then you will stop posting in a thread started by an extremist

We live in a consumer economy... if suddenly we all grew our own food and went off grid the economy would collapse.
So call 400sm blocks an insurance policy against self sufficiency ...

Maybe some of these ignorant, self entitled Gen Y/Zers who preach Socialism should give up all the benefits of the western capitalism they 'hate' (internet, iphones etc) and go live a 'meager existence' for a while.

LOL yeah right.
I know I might as well try having a conversation with my dog but would you please tell me how you've arrived at the point where you think the internet and phones aren't allowed under socialism?

Socialist like you wouldn't be able to afford the internet and phones if your utopian plan for the world was inforced.

How many people around even want a vege patch? Surely changing tastes and more varied, cheaper fresh food in the supermarket is more likely to be driving the lack of demand for space to grow vege a than a sinister plan to keep the population under control?

On the other hand you have the socialists who shut down free grammar school places for working class kids in the UK, which allowed them to go on to be the first in their families to go on to university. All in the name of 'equality'.

Only an arse wipe would want a vege patch.

They’re allowed but not invented.
The two products that are emblematic of of Cold War state research wouldn't have been invented? The Soviets were already as advanced on tracking and communications, I think that's nonsense. You could make a case for the iPhone but the internet is more likely to be created under socialism.

It goes even deeper. The Government won't even let you connect your sewer to your garden because they want you to buy Water and Fertilizer instead of being self sufficient with your own Leavings.

Except it wasn't. The internet was invented in Western universities such as UCLA and made generally available through commercial concerns such as Compuserve.

Yes, it was developed entirely away from the market through the military and state funding. That is correct.

Why would we, when we can get a uni degree and earn twice as much sitting in an air con office browsing Facebook all day?

Plus, Uni was ******* amazing. Best time of my life.

Horses for courses. Sitting in an office browsing fb all day sounds like torture to me. Give me the outdoors and work that requires physical movement.

And "earning twice as much" may apply to you personally, but not consistently for uni grads v tradies. Supply and demand.

Depends on the degree. Law, Engineering, Medicine etc all pay well.

Arts and Philosophy, less so.
