Former Essendon players Tony Elshaug and Robert Shaw have been appointed to the Bombers’ recruiting team.

Elshaug and Shaw played a combined 116 games for the Bombers and have accepted part-time roles in the Bombers’ recruiting arm.

A member of the 1985 premiership side, Elshaug played 65 games for the Bombers, having also recently held the role of list and recruiting manager at St Kilda.

Shaw played and coached at the highest level, playing 51 games for the red and black and was an assistant coach in the 1980s before being senior coach of Fitzroy and the Adelaide Crows.

Shaw also recently guided the development of several AFL players including the Bombers’ own Andy McGrath through his role as a teacher and first XVIII coach with Brighton Grammar in the APS system.
