The preliminary finals saw most tipsters score one or two correct with no-one correctly selecting the result in the League game. As a result of that, there was no bonus point winner this week with no-one picking the winning team in that fixture. We did however have five tipsters pick two winners for the round to score some good points from Sunday's games.

After the preliminary final round, the leader is myself on 11 points with a three-way tie between hansie, Kram and RickSanchez for second place on 10 points.

Finals Week Four Fixtures

League: Subiaco vs West Perth at Perth Stadium (2:40pm, margin, neutral venue)
Reserves: East Perth vs Subiaco at Perth Stadium (8:40am, neutral venue)
Colts: Subiaco vs Swan Districts at Perth Stadium (11:40am, margin, neutral venue)

After 21 rounds and three weeks of finals, we have reached the Grand Finals for 2018 with the Grand Finals in all three grades to be played on Sunday at Perth Stadium for the first time. It's been a long and tough season with the clubs starting their seasons in November with pre-season training but it has all culminated to this in making it to Grand Final day at the newly built Perth Stadium.

The League Grand Final sees Subiaco take on West Perth in what looks to be an entertaining match up. Subiaco have been in great form all season and won through to the Grand Final after defeating South Fremantle in the Second Semi Final two weeks ago. The Lions were jumped early by the Bulldogs but managed to fight back and get over the top of their opponents in that fixture in what was a very entertaining match. The Falcons have had their troubles off-field this season but have managed to put that behind them and won through to the decider after a topsy-turvy finals series which saw them lose heavily to South Fremantle in the Qualifying Final, defeat Claremont in the First Semi Final before surprising many by knocking off South Fremantle in the Preliminary Final. Both Subiaco and West Perth have played in some great finals in recent years and this one should be no different in what proves to be a great match-up. This match is one of our two margin games this weekend with bouncedown scheduled for 2:40pm and will be telecast on Channel Seven.

The Reserves has East Perth taking on Subiaco in the day's opening game with bouncedown at 8:40am. This match was originally going to be played at the winner of the Second Semi Final but after a protest from each club, the nine clubs got together to provide the required cash to enable the game to be played at Perth Stadium. For our combatants, East Perth got over Claremont in a tight Qualifying Final before producing a fantastic comeback against Subiaco in the Second Semi Final to win through to the Grand Final. The Lions got off to a great start against the Royals in the Second Semi but couldn't stop East Perth's fightback and had to defeat Claremont in the Preliminary Final to face the Royals again in the decider. The Second Semi Final between these two clubs was a great game and this one is looking to be another good one too with these sides finishing in the top two on the ladder at the end of the home and away rounds. Footy Radio are also covering this game through the WAFL App if you're keen to listen to the match in the morning before the commencement of the Colts and League matches.

The Colts Grand Final will take place between Subiaco and Swan Districts with the match to get underway at 11:40am. This match will be broadcast on Channel Seven from 11:30am as a curtain-raiser to the League game which is a great development for the WAFL as a whole as it will showcase the next batch of talented young players coming through at each of the competing clubs. Subiaco made their way to the Grand Final after accounting for Swan Districts in the Second Semi having finished the season on top of the ladder. Swan Districts won a thriller against Peel Thunder in the Qualifying Final before losing the Second Semi Final to the Lions. Swans then came up against Peel again in the Preliminary Final and managed a relatively comfortable win to progress through to the season decider to again face the Lions. With the game on TV this weekend, this match is worth a look to see the state's elite juniors players in action and also as a great warm-up for the League Grand Final later in the day. Remember also you'll need a margin for this game too with the match being on TV as well.

The weather is looking fantastic for the weekend with a partly cloudy day and 23 degrees expected. The minimum is predicted to be nine degrees so if you're around for the Reserves' game it might be worth taking a jacket to keep yourself warm in the earlier parts of the day.

Well the final day of the season is here and we have three really good games in front of us to cap off another great season of WAFL footy. All sides will be giving it their all on Sunday as each side goes for premiership glory. I hope everyone has a great Grand Final day, a fantastic long weekend and as always, happy tipping!!

Season 2018 has come to a close and that brings us to the end of the BigFooty WAFL Finals Tipping Competition for 2018 as well. Grand Final Day proved to be a historic day for Subiaco as the Lions became the first club in WAFL history to win the League, Reserves and Colts premierships in the same year, a brilliant feat by the club. The Reserves' game between East Perth and Subiaco was a great match and somewhat mirrored the Second Semi Final some two weeks before but this time it was Subiaco who zoomed home to take the flag after trailing at three quarter time. It was Subiaco's second successive Reserves' premiership having beaten South Fremantle in the Reserves' decider last year.

The Colts' game was one of the best games of the season in any grade between Subiaco and Swan Districts with barely two goals between the sides for the entire game. The Lions lead at every change before Swans hit the front in the last term only for Subiaco to hit back with a couple of goals to push the margin out beyond a goal with a few minutes to go. Swans then scored a late goal to give themselves a chance but it wasn't to be for the Black Ducks as Subiaco held on to win by two points.

The League match started well with both teams fierce at the contest but Subiaco showed why they were undefeated all season long and powered away during the remainder of the game to win by 81 points in what was a one-sided contest. The Lions become the first club in 72 years to go through an entire season undefeated, quite a remarkable achievement.

As for the tipping side of things, we had a range of scores with a few tipsters getting all three games correct while there were also scores of one and two also spread across the tipping group. The bonus point for the margin games went to myself in the Colts with gaskin picking up the bonus point on offer for the League game.

With the finals now over, a winner has been decided and the winner of the 2018 BigFooty WAFL Finals Tipping Competition is myself on a total score of 15 points. Second place was a tie with gaskin and RickSanchez unable to be separated for the second time this season thanks to gaskin's big haul of points in the Grand Final round.

Well, that concludes the BigFooty WAFL Tipping Competition and finals tipping competition for 2018. Thanks to everyone for participating this season and I do hope that this competition had made your WAFL season a bit more enjoyable throughout the year. Thanks also to Chief and the team at BigFooty for their continued support of the BigFooty WAFL Tipping Competition once again in 2018. Hopefully we will be back again for a bigger and better tipping competition for the WAFL in 2019. Make sure you stick around in the off-season though as our thread dedicated to the off-season for player movements, awards, news and chat for the WAFL will be up and running in a couple of weeks' time.

Cheers! :thumbsu:
