It certainly was interesting to have a focus on the drug squad and Strawhorn and that they were seemingly using Nicola Gobbo for information, which i wasn't previously aware of.
.

Haven't had time to check in, what are they saying?

They're talking about the drug squad & Strawhorn using Gobbo as an informer and then were speaking to someone within the squad who has his identity suppressed.
They did talk briefly about "operation karen" which was in regards to herion dealing and a real estate agent by the name of Peter Reid, involved in there was the mention of Strawhorn, Paton, David Miechel, the officer on the stand and another supressed, one would assume those 2 would be Firth & Rosenes.

Could be off the mark but certainly have the suspicion the man on the stand was Firth who if i recall correctly left the force and tried to join Queensland police, rejoined the drug squad and eventually provided evidence against Strawhorn.

The witness did say that he would take information via Gobbo and did take it to Strawhorn on occasion so to me that would be someone under his command essentially.

Not sure it would Cox, Sadler or Ferguson, i believe they were all in unit 2 which was asian & heroin focused, whilst all in the same office i am not sure how much they would deal with Strawhorn thus, feeling like its Firth.
Did he turn up in a prison van?
Maybe it's Glenn Sadler. Gobbo was appointed by the Victorian Police Federation to defend him. I believe he got the second longest sentence out of Ferguson, Cox & himself. The other two got different lawyers. I'd bet that he'd be happy to get an outing to the RC. ;)

No mention of Paul Dale among that lot? Because he was around then.

I'm not 100% sure on this but I think the Hodson's daughter might have been working for Peter Reid?

I have never heard of Mr Reid, wasn’t able to find anything online regarding him as well.

Dale’s name has popped up a few times over the previous weeks, nothing too specific about him as yet.
More along the lines of officers in the steering committee and one of those officers questioned yesterday worked with him on taskforce lorimer.

Nothing online about him, I'm not sure he was ever convicted of anything. He didn't sell much real estate either faik, had some sort of weird relationship with another lawyer in town who took Gobbo in.

I’d say questions are getting tougher from this weeks round, she’s certainly coming off worse for wear, several officers claiming she was essentially a loose cannon who was too enthusiastic to help and making her own plans eg; introducing a undercover by name when a name wasn’t even organised by police.

As well as yesterday with one officer denying an affair she claimed they had.

The worst thing about this whole mess is the effect it'll have on client/lawyer relationships.

It also has the effect of smearing the entire force and damaging the relationship between the general public and the cops. It leaves young cops in particular who have joined for the right reasons exposed to a malignant distrust, cynicism and disrespect, hardening them too fast.

I agree but I think that's happened over a number of years in Victoria and this is just another step. It's been us (honest citizens) v them for a while. Unfortunately police/ing culture is that we do what they tell us to do, ie, they have far too much say in how we live our lives, nanny State.

There could be other reasons, more important than a RC, to deny an affair.

Was very curious when the name Thomas Hentschel was mentioned briefly, i assumed his name was still under suppression.

It may only be supressed in relation to certain cases.

is he The Runner? Or was that Brincat?

The 2012 document, publicly released on Friday, criticises the ethical and legal implications of Ms Gobbo's informing as well as the "disjointed" way her files were managed, with some reports missing or out of sequence.

The review states that her handlers would initially submit reports following conversations with Ms Gobbo straight away - but this "blew out" to weeks, months or even years.

It also describes Ms Gobbo - referred to as human source 3838 - as "high risk" and someone with various changing alliances and agendas.

"3838 became prolific in reporting matters to handlers and on a number of occasions is on record somewhat bizarrely expressing desires to be the best human source to have ever assisted Victoria Police," Mr Comrie says in the report.

"(She) can be envisaged to be a complex, manipulative and conniving person who became increasingly difficult to deal with and who seemingly had a variety of changing alliances and agendas.

"On occasions when handlers did try and draw away from and limit contact with 3838, such actions would invariably stimulate 3838 to become even more productive with offerings of intoxicatingly valuable information."

He added Ms Gobbo "seemed to have some form of addiction to the relationship".

She contacted her handlers several times a day, seven days a week - up to eight calls of substance a day, making it difficult for handlers to manage resulting workflows, the report shows.

It also looks at the risks she faced that weren't adequately addressed by Victoria Police, including her mental wellbeing.

Mr Comrie noted Ms Gobbo was out socialising with criminals most nights despite her heavy workloads, health problems, and calling handlers several times a day, in a lifestyle that is "clearly unsustainable", with her welfare a secondary consideration.

"As early as April 2006, handlers have noted that 3838 may have some form of psychiatric condition," Mr Comrie says.

However, he noted that when a psychologist was finally provided for Ms Gobbo, she thought they lacked credibility and attempted to bully them.

The document also details a distraught Ms Gobbo having approached police from the Major Drug Investigation Division, stating her client Tony Mokbel's clan planned to bribe corrupt police officers in return for having their drug charges withdrawn

LOL, they are character assassinating their OWN informant?

Why? Because she's about to tell on them.

At this level VicPol is a psychopathic organisation.

These particular cops are so used to bare faced lying in that classic mustacheoed monotone drawl, that I doubt they are cognisant of the difference themselves half the time. They figure that as the "agents of good" they can do whatever they like, and are above the law themselves. Their profession grants them an entrained understanding of what constitutes a crime, and everything outside that sphere that doesn't, and they happily push the envelope when it suits them, in a way the average person cannot understand.

Yep. This is the same tactic Brit intel used fighting the IRA. At least they could say they were at war with a group blowing up soldiers. Even then it was wrong.

VicPiol went completely off the deep end to get some blokes who were selling pills.

Of course the cops went off said deep end years before, pretending they were at war with some stick up blokes from the Flem flats then becoming a death squad.

They have been corrupt since the days of Ned Kelly. The system around them allows it to happen.

I just don't talk to them. Period. It wouldn't make a difference to me if one of my relations or friends were murdered.

Fatty's not allowed to tweet via a proxy any more and taking it to the Supreme Court on the basis that it denies him basic human rights.

It would be good to get clarification that Minogue was not representing Tony Mokbel in sending ridiculous letters on his behalf offering to give people up after all this time. Quite sure, Tony Mokbel didn't suddenly go bonkers when he has a perfectly legitimate legal team and many others likely tripping over themselves in the queue to represent him through his appeal.
