Why are Hawthorn hogging the 3:20pm slot?

It would seem Afl is bad at scheduling matches. Here's another example;

By Round 4 this year, Richmond will have played CONSECUTIVE interstate matches. Round 4. This is a team that plays 5 interstate matches for the entire season.

This exact thing also happens to Collingwood and Geelong this season. 5 interstate matches for the year, 2 of which are played consecutively.
Boo hoo
They need to harden up.

After today's game our guys get to sleep in their own beds priort9 the game closely in round 6. An say game at the SCG. Then round 9 when we get back to Giants Stadium.

Doesn't the Giants lack of "home games" during this part of the season have more to do with the unavailability of the Sydney Showgrounds rather than the AFL's ability to fixture.

Did they play that as well?

I used to love the super-quick breaks in radio commentary for "around the grounds" as a kid, you could almost hear the change in atmosphere from the different games.

haha they did, they used a few tracks but I always think of them when reminded of the old around the grounds segments, being told to look away from your TV to avoid the scores is so different to today haha.

Also they are partially based in Canberra so have decided to play home games there.

IMO it's one of the worst time slots you can get scheduled in. They can keep it for all I care. *shrugs*
Leading into 7 news on a Sunday isn't all that bad... And it's on 7 so....

This was a very decent troll thread, well done. The fact that people are still thinking it is serious shows how good it is!!

In all honesty though, this scheduling is testament to the fact that Hawthorn are not the powerhouse their 'supporters' think they are. As soon as they drop it of contention, they drop back to their natural order with the Bulldogs, Melbourne etc in terms of drawing power.

This is demonstrated unequivocally by crowd numbers this year, tv time slots fixtured and the fact that they need to sell their home games interstate and run pokies venues to make a dollar.

Make no mistake, they are a few bad years away from the bandwagon falling apart.

We have 5 Friday night games in the 2nd half of the year. We just have a weird spilt this year of mainly Sunday games early this year then mostly Friday and Saturday games in the 2nd half of the season

Early Saturday games (1:45) are the best timeslot and we have 3 or 4 of them this year. I'm not a big fan of night footy, particularly in the middle of winter.
3:20 on a Sunday isn't great and on Easter Monday is even worse. I can't understand why that game isn't a 1:45 start

Ha ha, great thread.

Other unfair things Hawthorn are hogging this season:

1. Double leg breaks
2. Losing from 5 goals up in the last
3. Liam Shiels as a top 3 mid
4. Brown and Gold colours

AFL needs to step in and make things fairer for the other clubs...

There also hogging totals of 87 points.
