Good to see Danny Ric outqualify Hulk, if only by the barest of margins. Needs some confidence for the year ahead and 7th is the best he can possibly do in that Renault. Great effort.

The guys are so close in that outright qualifying stats are less relevant than it could be. The priority for the strategies will be how the field forms after t3. So it's like qualifying has even finished yet.

Gasly may be a bigger margin behind his team mate that the other guys up the front. But what's important for him is that he's up there.

this ferrari pace stuff is an absolute myth. im sure we'll go through each race with mercedes being 'worried' about their pace and the f1 media lap it up as they lead by 6 seconds after 10 laps.
