2019 Likely to be 50k up after round 6

After that, who knows but with 4th to 7th all occupied by bottom 6 teams from last year, this season is packing a lot of juice

I think the AFL would be pretty happy with that. Bigger total in Victoria despite an extra game in the smaller ground in Geelong.

Also those WA figures aren't as bad as they look when you factor in that last season by round 4, West Coast had 3 home games and Fremantle had 1 (against Essendon), while this season there have been 2 home games each, with Fremantle having played against North and St Kilda.

MCC estimates for this weekend

Melbourne v St Kilda 34,000
Hawthorn v Geelong Cats 76,500

Way too optimistic for Easter Monday
I think Easter Monday won’t be far off weather permitting. Maybe early 70’s is on the money. If it was on an average Saturday this week it would draw around 50,000. I think the public holiday / neutrals factors for this fixture is around 20,000. Therefore 70-73,000 on a sunny Easter Monday feels right.

It's also semi traditional now.....I would have thought the dees saints would nudge 40K if it was any other day except Easter Sunday (or mothers day)

20,000 neutrals?

I doubt Easter Monday, Dreamtime, Queens Birthday, ANZAC Day or Season Opening event draws those sort of numbers - even with MCC or AFL members buffering. These games, when reasonable form lines allow draw equivalent crowds whether staged on a public holiday or not

What these games could draw is theatre going fans from the clubs involved but that is a different conversation.

I was thinking the game would draw early 60,000’s ala Easter Monday 2017 or the last season fixture last year

There is a great margin of error for what the crowd could be Saturday at Marvel. Anyway from low 30s to high 40s.

High 40s would be way out of left-field in the context of Richmond's typically terrible crowds against non-Vic clubs at Marvel. They've drawn decently against Sydney at Marvel (averaging 36,438 in 5 matches) but this century average 26,700 against interstate opposition excluding Sydney at Marvel.

40k would be a good crowd.
