If not paid a free to BBB then it would have been holding the ball against the Adelaide ruckman anyway I believe it was Jed that bitch slapped the bloke to the ground with a driving NRL tackle.

They removed the prior opp in the ruck rule this year I think.

Excellent that this is getting some traction and the timing is superb from Tim and BJ. As difficult as it is for former players to speak without fear or favour, this sort of s**t (whether it's JoeD, LLoyd, Lindsay Thomas or Ben Brown) needs to be called out - blight on the game!

Nah, backmen scragging players is a blight on the game. It’s not Browns fault he’s 200cm and the only way defenders can stop him is by holding, illegally shepherding him out of a mark or chopping his arms. If the umps cracked down on that we might actually see forwards kicking bags again. Might even see 100goal seasons come back.

He won’t make it. He’s got about 3 years max. Think of all the ex players that actually make a career out of the media. There’s about 10 and most genuine stars. He’ll be gone once Danger, Selwood, Lewis etc retire. Then they’ll be gone when the next lot come through.

No one likes him, no one respects him. The fact he promoted a beteasy podcast that about 8 people listen to speaks volumes.

Oh so that's why he was awarded life membership at Essendon despite not qualifying under any of the usual measurements, and the AFLPA Madden Medal for on-field excellence, personal development and growth, as well as community spirit over the course of their playing career. Nah, can't be loved by his team mates or respected by the wider AFL community if he got those honours :think:

Ah but that wasn't a qualification. Regardless of your opinion about our club, it was said he wasn't well liked by his teammates or respected in the wider community. That is categorically incorrect.

He got life membership at Essendon for standing up as a spokesman for a club convicted of drug cheating, when everyone else who could have looked like a leader was out of the game for a well-deserved break. Can see why they appreciated it but honestly, the rest of us are hardly likely to applaud it the same way.

You only have to read the "community" to know that he's a subject of regular ridicule & derision, and I don't care what his own team mates think of him (despite his very public run in's with them)

The AFLPA lost all relevance, except as a collective bargaining puppet, that time they decided a club instituting a program of banned and experimental drugs wasn't something they needed to be concerned with. The AFL sees the profit in Essendon's public rehabilitation, the AFLPA is just another PR arm of the AFL, so if Goddard got a pat on the head from them that's hardly newsworthy.

He may be a senational bloke in many ways. He's also a crap commentator who made and then doubled down on a s**t assertion about a genuinely top quality player and person in Ben Brown.

All accurate except the bolded. Even Mrs Goddard doesn't think he's a sensational bloke.

He only won the award because the inanimate carbon rod didn't retire at the same time.
