Player Watch #8: Bailey Scott

This moment from Bailey was great. A positive among a whole lot of garbage.

Thanks for posting, I was literally just recalling this piece of play. Sold into trouble by his team mate but good enough to clean up his mess. Says a lot that I was already more confident in Bailey coming out on top in that scenario than most others out there.

Yeah, two very good games in a row for MJ Wood, a pity he let himself down with kicking for goal both weeks.
While the goal kicking is frustrating, at the end of the day you can live with it if there is effort and desire.

Hopefully the spell in the VFL gave him the rocket he needed. Maybe it might work on a few others? ;)

Round 1: Skinny 18 year old debuts, gets Rising Star nomination in demolition.
Round 2: Big drop off in output. Club now sits 0-2.
Round 3: Despite the team not working and a poor sophomore game is backed in even though he is sick with gastro. 0-3.
Round 4: Rested. The team wins. 1-3
Round 5: Comes back in for Tarryn Thomas (bad decision to drop Thomas but that's a different story). Had a good highlight in another bad loss, 0-4.
Round 6: Dropped.

This club has no idea what it's doing. Team decisions seemingly made by a mule with a spinning wheel.

No idea why we can't play both Tarryn and Scott in the same team, they have alot to bring.

I don't even think Scott was bad in Round 5.

They should both be fast-tracked into being AFL hardened guns IMO.

Scott had an average first year outside mid game against The Scum. The fact that he was rested, seen as an instant in for Thomas (who did wonders for our forward structure/pressure/marking power as far as I could tell watching the Hawthorn and Adelaide games live) and then dropped the next week really makes the selection panel, AKA Brad, look clueless.

It will disrupt his form continuity no doubt and turn him into a peak 20 disposal plodder if we continue to muck around with him.

We are playing with fire mucking about with Thomas and Scott. They deserve to be there more than half of the list.

Not in the 'group of 26'.

Therefore at selection peril.

Agreed. Unless form was bottom of the barrel type stuff which is difficult considering the rest of the team, or due to injury, players like LDU, Scott, Thomas and to an extent McKay and Larkey shouldn't be dropped.

If we keep at it they can be our spine for the future.

Soon people will realise that we have a new demographic hole in our list from bombing out in the 2010-15 drafts (2013 excepting) and we need the 2016-18 crew to be fast-tracked or we're going to end up like 2014-17 Carlton trading in absolute hacks by the shovelful just to fill list spots.

Bailey didn't return after a big sling tackle today, hope he's ok. Anybody heard?

Bloke who KOd Bailey cops two weeks.

Anderson was banned for his dangerous tackle that forced North Melbourne youngster Bailey Scott from the game during the first half of Sunday's 37-point victory at Ikon Park.

The ban comes at the worst possible time for Anderson, given it coincides with the Northern Blues' upcoming bye, meaning he will miss the next three weeks of football.

Good, hope he gets overlooked in the mid-season draft.

Frank Anderson, you say?

Hello Frank

Is this kid digging a hole to China or something?

Any chance of getting a call up soon, what's his VLF form being like, cheers.

No that would mean BS would actually have to drop some of the under-performing senior players!

Was concussed a few weeks ago, missed a game then came the bye. Back this week.

No it wouldn't. It'd mean the club would have to play a skinny 19 year old who already been knocked out once this season because he can't yet break a tackle.
Let the kid develop in the VFL. That's what we got a team for.

Whilst I'm comfortable with your conclusion, he was knocked out in the VFL by an act that was subject to a 2-week suspension. I didn't see it, but it sounds unrelated to tackle-breaking ability.

Bailey looked very much at home in the JLT and Rd1 before playing Rd2 with gastro (I mean, WTF selectors?). He's the sort of 1st year player that can thrive at AFL level.

And at the same time, we have deadwood senior players who have frankly never thrived at AFL level.
