Guess what, he is allowed to have an opinion even if it is different to yours. Surprised?
He is. And the majority of people are free to have the opinion he’s a bellend because if it, and even share it with other people. People sure seem to forget the flip side of the coin when it comes to freedom of expression.

Quality footballer, average bloke, it seems.

Goodes was being booed because he wanted equality, Ablett is being booed because he believes one group deserves to burn for eternity. I think booing of Ablett is progress.

Are you are believer in including everyone runner? If you think that everyone booing Goodes was because he's indigenous or GAJ being booed solely because of his twitter post you're either extremely naive or extremely ignorant.

Whether you like it not GAJ gets booed not only because of his post but because he's a champion footballer and Goodes was not only being booed because he's indigenous (by a w***er few) but also because he's a champion footballer and the fact that he at times played dirty.

If you're in the camp of "include everyone" then you have to include those that boo GAJ for his post and those that agree with him, I don't like it but hey inclusion.

Gets booed as he is a spoilt brat who showed no loyalty leaving Geelong for megabucks then cried to get back to Geelong. Stages for frees throws his arms about at umpires no wonder every other side can't stand him.

Well let’s see.

Left Geelong to set up his entire career knowing with a reasonable degree of personal experience how f***ed a sportsman’s life can get after his earning days are finished.

Asked for a trade as countless other players do every off-season - except he actually had a legitimate family reason for it, highlighted by the fact that within the period he had been looking for a trade, his sister died.

Appeals for free kicks because, as the most decorated player of his generation and still - as proven today - arguably the most dangerous when he has the ball in hand and some time, he actually does get extra attention from the opposition. As it is, whatever he’s trying ain’t working because he’s got 1 free kick this season.

That somewhere around the mark?

Religion is not an excuse for being extremely homophobic. I know a number of people who identify as Christians who believe gay people should be treated equally. Ablett and Kennedy are both filled with hate and they have no excuses for their abhorrent views.

You do understand the concept of ‘hate the sin, not the sinner’ yeah?

Ever since Goodes spoke out we have seen more and more Aboriginal players refuse to accept racism in crowds. Plenty of fans have been banned for racism in recent years because players, both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal have spoken out. Goodes helped make speaking out more okay, more accepted.

No. A tiny handful of fans, you could probably count them on one hand, have been banned for racist comments. Why do people seem to delight in grossly exaggerating the racist element in footy crowds and in our country? That's five people out of millions who have attended the past few seasons. Do you understand what a ridiculously tiny percentage of people that is? Yet given the headlines and endless pontificating by virtue signaling journalists on the issue of racism in footy you would be led to believe we are living in the equivalent of Nazi Germany. One is too many-but it really isn't worthy of the handwringing and media coverage given whenever one of these rare episodes occur.

I think religion is about the only excuse for homophobia - not saying it is a valid reason but if you have been brought up to think homosexuality is a sin it will drive these type of comments.
If they boo him (and sack Folou) because of these comments I am OK with it.
Not sure it will change them but it may make some people think and hopefully highlight the comments as minority views.

Ablett has done a heck of a job tarnishing his legacy.
Do you honestly think that when he finally hangs up his boots after what will probably go down as one of the most illustrious careers ever, people will say “I can’t rate him coz he liked a post” or, “he is only half a player coz he switched clubs for money”? Doubt it

Probably true. Ablett Snr essentially murdered a girl and the media still talk about him like he was the greatest thing since sliced bread.

If you believe your own drivel then we'll done on convincing yourself. The bloke is a proven mercenary and when that has been done starts crying to get what he wants. Spoilt brat. Throw in the sore loser in your response.

There are many religions where gays are apparently going to hell but they'd all have to line up behind Gary Ablett Snr to get in, what a scumbag that bloke is.

On the surface it'd seem a bit harsh to boo a bloke for having an imaginary friend. Except that imaginary friend has views that don't align with modern society.

YES

Add the fact that had he stayed a one club player he could have won more premierships with the Cats (if he was still there they'd have won 12-15 EASILY!).

Sadly he'll only be a 2 time premiership player. Oh and have beliefs that are stuck in the stone age.

Which is the point lost on all those that shame them both including afl and aru
Agreed. I have no problem with people having faith in whatever faith they want so long as they don't shove it down the throat or impose it on others. Neither Izzy or GAJ have done that and if people don't like what they or anyone else do or so on social media how about use the block button? Or don't go on it at all.

It's bad he wants to be near immediate family in that much trouble they die before you get there? Have a think please. And as far as leaving Geelong in the first place it sucked but no one could turn down that money it was just ridiculous.

actually reading for the first time what folaus quote on Twitter actually said thanks to some earlier poster...he’s not damning them to everlasting hell or saying they’ll never enter heaven, he’s saying if you embrace god then your sins will be forgiven?? If you take out the reference to homosexuals as that’s not a view that belongs in modern day society Christian or otherwise, like everything in the bible it’s not to be taken literally but rather is allegory (those with eyes to see and ears to hear and all that crap). It is a common theme across all the abrahamic religions (and other more new age ones as well) that what takes place in the physical material realm is a reflection of what’s going on inside of oneself in the spiritual one. That particular quote from corinthians he used is commonly interpreted in the teaching that fornication/adultery/atheism etc are not actually sins themselves rather they are the result of sin, that sin being losing your trust and faith in god there’s only one. And by repenting it means starting to believe and trust in god again, it doesn’t mean you must cease and desist all the aforementioned sinful behaviours and beg for forgiveness like how it’s usually misinterpreted. Requires a rather more nuanced understanding of Christian teachings, study of biblical scripture and gnosis to be able to grasp the true message and intent of what to most people (who only read and interprete the texts literally) seems like a thoroughly archaic, backwards and bigoted bunch of beliefs

And yet perhaps this is a terrible way of looking at the issue. If you're trying (and Rugby Oz are) create a national sport and a workplace which promotes tolerance, you can't have your employees using scripture as an excuse for publicly offering their bigotry. Plenty of ordinary people would lose their job for this.
