If we'd won in 84 we probably wouldnt have sacked Ebert and won the Cahill flags in 88/89/90, which effectively got us into AFL.

Not necessarily.
Geof Motley coached us to a flag in 1959 but was shafted 2 years later because he failed to get another one.
Port's 85, 86 and 87 seasons were very poor by the club's standards of the time - probably the worst three year spell since the late 1940s. I think Ebert's head would probably have been on the chopping block by then regardless.

"port power" "fantasy vs reality" "new club" crap that went on for far too long, instead of cutting him off and correcting him Kane Cornes said "very fair points can't argue with any of that" lmao what a *head. did Kane Cornes not live through the One Club merger? is that not an obvious part of recent history to point to? even Chris Ditmar over on Triple M would correct this kind of moron these days. either Kane genuinely forgot the merger happened or he doesn't care/agree with it, either way he isn't a Port man is he

simple response should be - Thanks for your opinion Graham. You're wrong - and why do you care so much about another club's history? What insecurities do you have about your own club's history and culture? And wouldn't it make more sense to put your energies into worrying about that?

Kane wasn't listening.
Some other guy called in and saying Collingwoods president in the mid 90s said if Port finish above them 3 years in a row they can wear the Prison Bars so we should be able to wear it.
Then Kane ignored that and just said "Maybe if Port finish higher in the future they should wear it the year after"

The Front bar has some great guests lately and no wonder why its killing them in the ratings.
Nicky Winmar on Thursday night, Paul Kelly a few weeks ago, who does very little media and Ross Glendinning a week or two before Kelly.
That bit where they looked at the 1980 night GF, Glendinning won the colour TV, 4 of the 5 commentators voted for Collingwood's Kevin Morris, but Lou Richards basically said lets give it to Glendinning as boundary rider Jack Edwards was a North supporter and always interviewed the winner. They showed the outtake of Lou changing the vote, apparently the first time ever shown on TV, and they brought Kevin Morris on to go behind the bar and had the retrospective righting of a wrong and Ross hand over a small colour TV to Morris, was a good laugh.
TFS on 9 can't do stuff like that and pull out old footage and embarrass, praise and laugh along with the guest like the Front Bar can.
