I'm putting this to Eddie just being a scatterbrain emotionalist, not your recollection, but he's basically said 'Port Adelaide can wear their actual jumper... but make it different.'Wow... Eddie McGuire says SA media have blown things out of proportion with their stance on the Prison Bars. Don't know where to post this.
They're happy for the Power to use the prison bars for their 150th. He doesn't want to be part of the problem, he wants to be part of the solution to find a jumper that doesn't alienate their Power fanbase. So instead of the Prison bars we know of, add some teal, or add some of the original magenta. Or even wear the original magenta guernsey.
Also said Port got it in writing that this is the last time they will bring the Prison bars up for a guernsey.
You have actually described the metaphorical gun to the head scenario. "Change your guernsey, or esle you can't join." That's a classic example of metaphorically holding a gun to someone's head.Fair enough too. It was a condition of them joining the league. Nobody held a gun to their heads, it was a choice they freely made.
The odd heritage game is fine, but they need to build on their very impressive AFL heritage rather than keep flogging this dead horse
They have to play a game or two there each year to appease the bean-counters running the venue - and it's not gonna be Collingwood vs anyone from Vic. For a few years running it was the Eagles. Is there any particular reason Collingwood v Port is at Marvel?
Eddie pulls out the 'signed in writing... This is the last time' line every time we wear it. Port has denied any such agreement exists, and tbh anyone who would sign that off should be run out of the club.I'm putting this to Eddie just being a scatterbrain emotionalist, not your recollection, but he's basically said 'Port Adelaide can wear their actual jumper... but make it different.'
Ultimately couldn't Port do this anyway? If they wanted teal instead of white prison bars or to wear a magenta strip, they could any old game. They just don't because they'd rather keep the strip as it should be – black, white, a line with some bars underneath it.
So what's the go? What one is it? The proper prison bars jumper as a primary jumper for 2020 or some fuaxback style thing for 2020?
Also not sure about Port Adelaide basically extinguishing all future wears just for 11, 15 games next season.
It doesn't sound legally binding and I'm sure it won't last, but that's a big risk.
Every decision comes with a price, with pros and cons. They may as well complain they have to play outside Adelaide half the season. If they didn't like the deal they didn't have to accept it.You have actually described the metaphorical gun to the head scenario. "Change your guernsey, or esle you can't join." PAFC freely chose the conditions they were offered and joined the league. The small group of fans should join the club in building on their excellent AFL pedigree.

Two wrongs don't make a right. Cats in white shorts WAS one of the few rights.Anyone complaining about the Cats in Navy shorts should just watch this game for 5 minutes and realize the Cats in Navy is the least of the AFL problems.
My girlfriend just asked why Port are wearing purple..
