Embley is wearing a serious pair of rose coloured glasses. See how he absolutely scoffed at suggestions to drop Darling? Like he's absolutely immune, and it's silly.

The other bloke Ryan was spot on about us having too many midfielders and who we should push out. Someone not affiliated with the club gives a better opinion.

I suspect it’s not the head coach’s decision.

Sack Gepp
But Gepp is the chief hugger in the coaching box. Notice that he is usually first on the ground after a win with a hug.

A mate of mine has the odd drink with him at Steves/Claremont Yacht Club and has asked Gepp exactly what he does and the answer is very very vague.

I recall Simmo saying in one of the post GF clips that it was the line coaches that provided the spray and it was his role to put an arm around them.

So with Mitchell gone, do we have anyone in the coaching box that provides our snow flakes with a blast or is it just "keep backing them in" stuff?

Yeah I suppose it’s a question of when you decide enough is enough, bite the bullet and start making changes.

For me that point was last week. Two shocking losses in a row, and 11 straight quarters of unacceptable football going back to the Derby.

I can see why the match committee aren’t at that point, though. I’m more angry at the treatment of Brander. That’s my major gripe this week.

Yeah fair point. I think we made the mistake of bringing in Brander last week anyway. On talent he deserves a spot but I think we need to stop shoe-horning him into utility roles.

Keep him up forward in the WAFL and actually play him as one of our three tall forwards when there is a spot available

Darling got the reprieve, Allen's been playing better
I think that might be overstating things somewhat. There is a greater gap between Darling's best and what he is currently producing but Allen didn't have a good game last week. He tried hard and nearly took some good marks but he didn't pull anything off apart from the consolation goal he kicked late. His game was poor and he hasn't done much lately. Let's not gild the lily. I think he will be a very good player but he's still getting there. Darling's form is also very poor.

Allen can take a chest mark though

Allen can't yet rip a game open singlehandedly in a quarter or two?
Basically, there's no one else as good as Darling to step in.
If Darling can't get the ball, or do something with it, a good chance nobody else can.
Same can be said for JK. No ones calling for JK to be dropped.
He hasn't set the world on fire either.
Yet I understand the frustration with Darling. He frustrates the bejesus outta me at times.
This is the best 22, you have to get them to click, to regain the chemistry, to run into form.
What's the alternative - to chop and change each week, have revolving doors just for the sake of it?
Hopefully, they will run into form over next few games, Redden back, Rioli, then NN,
then roll into the business end with a better ledger.
Watching that Gossage vision made me realise how much I miss the little Frenchman up forward!!!

Because Simpson has one set of rules for some people, and another set of rules for others. He doesn't apply the same selection standards across the board.

Case in point, Brander has been decent in the WAFL, comes in for a tough game against a top team, and is ommited the next week.

Venebles does nothing in the WAFL, actually manages to get recalled to the senior team somehow (ahead of Waterman and M Allen), does nothing, and is still retained.

The double standard stinks.

You're really going to accuse Simmo of "double standards" despite the fact we debuted the most players in the comp just last year? I mean, seriously?

Sure, the changes yesterday were pretty annoying, but it's not like this is a consistent thing. Simmo has been pretty damn good recently (remember that premiership only 6 games ago?), so to claim he has favourites is discounting every selection choice he's made over the last 12 months. And it's not like Venables came I'm last week against Geelong over others - it was definitely surprising, but it made sense. We needed forward pressure, and Venners provides that. Neither Allen or Waterman were in the frame.

And all this is all ignoring the fact that you (or anyone else on here) have absolutely no clue what goes on in the coaches box/in the MC. We don't know what KPIs have been set for players, or have the information that the coaches do. You can't just conclude Simmo has "double standards" based on what we can know, and especially given this is the first instance (even if you could say it is) of it in ages.

Hopefully this week his kpi's include winning the damn game

It's also amazing how Simmo's "double standards" arise when we're not traveling so well.

For example, late in 2017, following a narrow loss to Collingwood that left us sitting outside the eight:
If thats indeed the case, then by the same rationale and standards, Priddis and Le Cras should in the WAFL this weekend to work on their disposal efficiency and defensive pressure .

Either simpson has to apply these standards to everyone, or he applys them to nobody.

At the moment, he has a blatant double standard, and it stinks.

The following week:
I would love to know simpsons logic and rationale behind this: if he is prepared to drop karpanny, a kid, based on one poor game, why in the hell has mark le cras been in the side all season?

Its this BS selection double standard which is maddening. We will cut lose a kid after a bad game but exempt our veterans? When your kids are held to a high standard then your leaders, you have a serious problem. It should be the kids getting some leeway, and the senior players being held accountable.

Watch for Le cras to go missing again in melbourne and simpson to be baffled

Following an underwhelming 2018 JLT series:
It's the double standard by Simpson that stinks, he wouldn't play Partington because he '''needed to work on some things", yet Nelson and fricken Masten are walk up starters?

And speaking of Partington, where the hell is he??

Amazingly there were no double standard sightings during the 2018 season. They only seem to have cropped up again recently.

Article says a fortnight away...so Round 9.. we should have seen our last of Masten....

Who bet me account bet of round 11???
Im not worried..i just want

Sheed inside
Gaff wing
Rioli half fwd
Masten out ..

And yep Matty Allen is becoming like the Brant Colledge. Would of been good to see him at half fwd/mid with this same move above but he is tall and it might make fwd line too tall with Oscar already in it.
Don't think Colledge is a good comparison. He played senior footy and looked like utter trash.

Ok so Masten’s definitely finished in Round Nine then? Stop me if you’ve heard this one before.

Gaff replaces Masten in Round 3.
Masten will of played his last West Coast game in RD 2.

His time is up. It maybe worth sticking a couple bucks on him for the Sandover..

You Masten suckholes....Hes had 2 bad games in a row...Bye Bye Masto.....

Ok Smith comes out. Masten cant simply stay in past these inclusions over the next 2 to 3 weeks.

Oh and my personal favourite, from last week.

Again Masten is the worst mid. If he stays in next week im walking from this forum of wankey supporters. Hes a joke. He is the 1st mid out for Redden considering Venables is playing fwd.

As one of the wankey (?) supporters of this forum, allow me to bid you farewell [emoji3]

Well hes not long away...looking at this team on paper they have moved Sheed inside and Gaff is on the wing.. They had Sheed named Half Fwd last week..

Rioli In Masten out in Round 9..
Nic Nat in O Allen out shortly after.
Except Barrass in for Schofield and that is my best 22. In 2 more rounds i shouldnt have to say Masten again.

And in the event of Tim Kelly arrival. Dan Venables would come out. But id much prefer him now to get a red hot go at it then watch Masten stink it up all season.

Can’t see Tim Kelly getting a game any time soon
Also you must be very. naive to think that named positions translate to any game day structure

Don't you go crossing out Oscar

Yes players named in position doesnt mean much.

But looking at how we named the side I hope it does. Gaff on the wing where he should be, Sheed in the guts where he should be. Masten as a HHF can do whatever Simo wants him to do.

Just looks better set up and players in their natural roles.
