Two batsmen have scored over 20,000 first class runs in two separate decades, both during the 1920s and 1930s.

Not sure if this is the thread for it or not, but...

Am I right in saying these FC stats include things like Gentlemen vs Players and Lord Smithson's XI vs University of Poshtown XI in a two-day game but pre-WWII, tour matches in other countries (South Africa vs Victoria, etc) weren't first-class games?

First class games shouldn't include any two-day games. There has been conjecture over WG Grace's first class stats because some two-day games were originally added into his stats when he retired but they were not added into other players' figures. This is mainly why the Association of Cricket Statisticians believe Grace's figures should be altered. Tour matches in other countries which go for three days should definitely be first class, but there are some some exceptions. Traditionally, a game in Australia between a touring team and Northern New South Wales would often be given three days but was never considered first class. Also, if there are more than eleven players in a team, that is another obvious reason to not allow it to be first class.

You inspired me to do a little research, so thanks. Now this is all based on Cricinfo statistics, but I'm assuming they are right.

31/2 South Africa tour of Australia: 18 matches in total, but only 5 first class matches (ie only the tests).

32/3 England tour of Australia: 19 matches, at least 15 first class.

They more or less played the same teams, but only one of them gets credited with FC status. Doesn't seem right.

And yes I know the cricket staticians got together in 1949 or something and said they wouldn't retrospectively give first class status, and it makes me wonder if there are plenty of batters out there who don't get the credit they deserve because of Anglo-centric rules.

Actually, the 1931-32 South Africans did play other first class games apart from the Tests. Of the 18 matches you can see listed on Cricinfo, only the games against New South Wales Country and Victoria Country would not be first class.
It is difficult to know why certain three day games are ranked first class and why others aren't. In England they used to have many first class games at the end of a season such as Free Foresters vs Cambridge or Oxford Uni, England XI vs Commonwealth XI, North vs South, and the Gentlemen vs Players as you mentioned earlier, as well as games such as Lord Londesborough's XI vs MCC. During the 1970s though there were three days games between Derek Robin's XI and Cambridge or Oxford which did not receive first class status even though players such as Keith Fletcher, Imran Khan, Mike Brearley, Mushtaq Mohammad and Bob Willis played in them.
In Australia of course, none of the World Series Cricket Super Tests received first class status.

In the 1891-92 Ashes Test series, WG Grace, at age 43, took more catches (9) than both teams’ wicketkeepers combined.

More wickets than runs in a first class career (300 wickets or more)

The first known tied game in Australian cricket took place in Tasmania in 1872-73. Two teams chosen from the Launceston area were selected as GH Bailey's XI and WA Collins' XI. Playing at Launceston Oval on January 18 and February 1, 1873, Bailey's XI batted first and scored 114. Collins' XI then scored 114 in their innings. There was still time for Bailey's XI to bat again, and sure enough they scored 114 in once more, with Collins' XI again falling for 114 in their second dig.

Rahul Dravid was known as "The Wall", for his impenetrable defence. Surprisingly, he is the batsman with the most 'bowled' dismissals - 55.

I don't have the 1979 Wisden, so I can't check the veracity of this one.

In the 1978 season David Steele (Northamptonshire) scored 1182 runs in 31 completed innings, to average 38.12.

His younger brother John (Leicestershire) scored 1182 runs from 31 completed innings at an average of 38.12.

Old farts such as Gough and myself will remember David for his heroics vs. Lillee et al. in 1975.

I remember reading quite a few stories about David when I was first discovering cricket literature

After checking, yes, this is absolutely true. They also both scored 3 centuries.
