Agree he may be a better coach now with some more experience.

I found with Ratten that whilst he was coach he was lampooned by a lot of people in the media and on social media but once he was sacked he sort of morphed into a cross between Jock McHale and Ron Barassi

I think this colours our view of Ratten that maybe he was better than he was . From memory he missed on the Port job after us and from what I heard his presentation was embarrassing (did he also miss on the Brisbane job ??). He has also not gained any of the other senior roles that have been available since then.

Im pretty sure that he didn't apply for any roles for a long time considering his personal situation and what the family went through, so i don't think you can use that as an example of him not being any good.

Malthouse didn’t force Robbo and Garlett to lie to the leadership group, only a few months after another off field punch up at Big Day Out.

Who forced Malthouse to out them publicly? What did that achieve for the Club if the Club decided that they had to go - nothing. Wasn't a happy Club back then - lots of factions in the playing group as well as in coaches box and back offices...don't want to go back to those days thats for sure.

Says a lot about the environment when grown men resort to lying rather than telling the truth because they’re scared of the ramifications.

Carlton have always largely been dictated by the power brokers of the club, dating back to Wes Lofts, through to Jack Elliott and Richard Pratt.
The shadow of Bruce Mathieson still looms large at the club. Not exactly sure who is pulling the strings these days.

Probably need to take ownership of your actions, and they thought they could get away with the b/s story they let rip (Robbo had for a bit hadn’t he with his injury sustained in the scrap, until the news came out, poor look hence the stand the club decided to take - think it was Andy MAC that publicly announced they were out at any cost).

Edit: De Goey as a prime example of a similar state of story telling, because he thought he could get away with it.

Me.

I just want what's best for the club - wealthy, white men in suits talking liberal party politics in stairwells again would be a good start..........

Shudder when I hear that.

They’re always one step missing, 4 year old Armani suits and desert boots.

But they know....

This is my first post.
I have it on good authority that the Board asked SOS to explain why two Geelong Grammar boys (Dow and O’Brien) were picked at 3 and 10 in the 2017 draft. SOS said that they are really country boys (not capital G Grammar boys) and any suggestion of Grammar boy softness was wrong.

I’m also told that he explained the failure to recruit Ed Richards (who went at 15 or 16 to the Dogs) on the ground that he turned up 45 mins late to his interview. So what! He was 17 or just 18 and had a good reason for being late.

We now know that Richards is a better player and prospect than O’Brien.

Is SOS a bit middle class in his thinking?

We need more mongrels. In picking Stocker I think SOS might have started to learn his lesson.
Stocker has a touch of arrogance and some Mongrel.

Pity we can’t reverse the O’Brien selection.

No it is good authority. I can’t identify the source but given the content of my post you can infer which part of the club my source belongs to.

The Ed Richards part of your post is correct. Sam Landsberger interviewed Ed Richards and he said that he had car trouble on the Monash and was 45 minutes late to his meeting with SOS.

LOB could very well still be a solid player. A bit early to be writing someone off less than 18 months into his career.
