If you think money is the only thing Shiel or Lynch signed for but is that the reality? :drunk:
Every player has a price. Both Shiel and Lynch would've gone to Hawthorn if enough money was offered. Alas, your club did not offer enough, and as a result, you got neither. Not rocket science.

Depends on where we finish. It's looking like a low pick, which we would keep this time.
That's a bit of a contradiction to what you Hawthorn supporters keep claiming about how your club will be a "major player" in the off-season with a warchest.
Do you seriously believe Coniglio will come free because he's a free agent? You know how restricted free agency works, right?

Knowing Clarko, I have little doubt he'll do whatever he can to trade out whatever first round pick you get for another 26+ year old. He is not interested in Hawthorn's future beyond 2022.

If we want a free agent, and they want us, no other club will be able to match. We leverage our salary cap to support our list management strategies. We have carried over considerable cap space year on year since buddy left, for this exact scenario. Just gotta get a commitment from someone ;)

Having to train at Dingley is going to be your impediment.

How many 26+ players have been traded in? Only a few.
Those traded in will be good for five years

Rubbish. He's also handing over to S Mitchell who will have a big say in list management decisions. As well as Wright and Kennett.

If it's a top 5 pick, it's staying. Unless it's for a Whifield/ Charlie Curnow type.

You forget JOM and Tom were 23 when they joined us.

You continue to demonstrate that you don't understand the free agency rules. "No other club"???

It's always funny seeing people speak as if you have full access to your club's salary cap, as if you're the list manager himself.

Should Coniglio ask to leave, GWS will match whatever offer gets made for him, which is pretty much exactly what Adelaide did with Dangerfield. Should he nominate Hawthorn (which I doubt he will), you can bet your house your first rounder + more is out the door.

No they don't. Clarkson won 4 flags. Whatever Clarkson demands, Hawthorn will obey, no matter how expensive. The O'Meara deal pretty much illustrates this.

Well, you're not the list manager, so you don't truly know this.
Sure, they could keep the pick, just like they did the year they picked up Burton. That being said, there are a lot of Hawthorn fans have been calling to hit the draft for a few years now, and Hawthorn have traded their first pick every time. Sure, it's nice to big up some gems and bargains with late picks, but you never want that to be the real meat of your team.

Again, if you see your club as a "big player" on the trade table this year, chasing players worth big money, it doesn't matter what range your first pick is in, it'll be on the table.

Way to make having the best coach by far in the afl into a negative

Cousins, Morrison, Moore and Lewis playing breakout games. No youth. :$:thumbsu:
Who said no youth? You just have inferior youth. For example:
Mitch Lewis vastly inferior to Aaron Naughton.
James Cousins vastly inferior to Paddy Dow.
Dylan Moore vastly inferior to Connor Rozee.

Sorry, but winning one game against a team with Dawson Simpson in the ruck means little in the context of an entire list going forward. You were all on your high horse after barely beating Carlton a couple weeks back, only to whinge next week about people picking on your club after a loss to Melbourne the following week.

See we can all play this game. And FWIW Cousins has showed more at AFL level than Dow to this point in time.

This is what's known as fan delusion.

So you seriously believe Lewis is as good as Naughton, Cousins as good as Dow and Moore as good as Rozee?

Again, fan delusion.
The numbers suggest that Cousins is better than Dow at this stage.
And what about Worpel? His numbers stack up against Walsh, or Hardwick, who isn't just the best young small defender in the AFL, but the best small defender in the AFL now.

Easy game this.
