2019 will be remembered as a year we got games into our soon to be guns:

Current games...
Setterfield - 7 games
Stocker - 2 games
Marchbank - 41 games
Cuningham - 20 games
SPS - 50 games
Gibbons - 8 games
Walsh - 8 games
McGovern - 55 games
Dow - 28 games
Williamson - 17 games
JSOS - 47 games
Fisher - 42 games
McKay - 23 games
Weitering - 64 games
LOB - 23 games
Kennedy - 31 games
Charlie - 52 games

So many players who really are still finding their feet. If we can get an average of 10 or so games into most of them this year, we will be so much better for it come 2020.

Ive got a very good feeling about Stocker and Setterfield btw

Great work HCJ:thumbsu: The nucleus is there now and some of the above will make it and some may not. SOS will keep on turning it over albeit not as aggressively as he has in the past. Creating a Premiership team from scratch!

Could give zero £#(×$ if we give adelaide pick 1 in this year's draft. Stocker will be a gun imo and it was a bold but also sensible call. 1 year early and another pick. Love it!

Even a "veteran" in Mitch;- 2014 national draft. Only Played 48 games for the crows. If he plays the rest of the season will increase his games by nearly 50%. For a player of his talent, that can make a huge difference in output

Just how young and inexperienced we are seems to get overlooked.

Yeah we're in our 4th year under Bolton, but with our huge turnover the first 2 years should basically not even be included since most of the players back then aren't around anymore.

We're playing so many players with so few games to their name in one team. Yet we're getting in winning positions and playing some good footy.
Opposition players have been pretty complimentary of us, shock journos and idiot opposition fans will just focus on our ladder position, but i think those that matter realise we're building something pretty special.

This is a massive reason why we are still coming up a little short this year when being in winning positions.
Also McKay Williamson and Cuningham have certainly missed between another 15-30 games each because of continuous injury setbacks so far during their careers, Kennedy and Marchbank have had their share as well most definitely costing not only these players but the side valuable games of development and continuity.
Poor old Pickett has had a train wreck of injuries as well, It is what it is but Lady Luck has certainly cost us imo...

Check out those love handles...
I don't know if genetics is a fair excuse, but have you seen how chunky his ol' man is? The poor bugger is always going to struggle to be whip thin. Some people with slow metabolisms just have to smell food to add kilo's. I know the game has gone past finding a place for fatties, but unfortunately any interruption in his training schedule could be fatal to his career. On ya Picky, hope you get there.

Whats the difference in delisting the same player at seasons end to take a chance on a untried draftee?

There's a huge difference between someone retiring mid-year through injury, and forcing someone into an early retirement because there's a shiny new toy on offer.

It'd be a s**t thing to do and I'd be very disappointed if we did it, regardless of whether or not they're gone at the end of the year.

Spot on. Media will keep harping on. However I wouldn’t change a thing. Also what happens if our first rounder next year(crows pick) is a gun?

Agreed. That’s a huge stat when you read games played. 12 players under 50 games. 4 players under 10 games. Lookout 2021

Has Jarrod Pickett put on some size?
Any update on his injury when is he back ?

The positive I took out of the photo is that at least Pickett hasn't "blown up" which would be easy whilst he can't run. He looks that same as when he got injured. If he can stay like that and then get fit under Russell then he's a chance.

Having a further look at our young midfield crop:

Name / pre-2019 games / Est. 2019 games / Est. Total end of 2019

Walsh / 0 / 21 / 21
Stocker / 0 / 15 / 15
Setterfield / 2 / 18 / 20
Cuningham / 16 / 18 / 34
O'Brien / 18 / 12 / 30
Dow / 20 / 22 / 42
Kennedy / 31 / 8 / 40
Fisher / 34 / 22 / 56
SPS / 42 / 22 / 64
Cripps / 81 / 22 / 103

Looking at it in groups:
Bracket / 2019 / 2020
0-2: 4 / 0
3-22: 3 / 4
23-49: 3 / 4
50-99: 1 / 2
100+: 0 / 1

Start of 2019 average was 22 games (and about 21 years old), come round 1 next year that game average could be almost double at 40. Not that its hard to believe, given our midfield age profile, but it's still pretty crazy to think that we could almost double our AFL experience in the space of 23 weeks.

At the ends of the ground we've already had Weiters, Charlie & Mitch break 50 games this season and they should be followed by Marchbank, Jack & Newman with Harry another year off. Not counting any of the veterans (Simmo, Jones, Daisy, Murph, Ed, Kreuz etc) the rest of our forwards should have an average age around 23.5 and our defenders a year older than that. The 'Doc & under' section of the team probably starts 2020 with averages around 23 years & close to 50 games (then those numbers get padded out a bit with the old blokes).

Just looking at the age & experience profiles of what is a significant chunk of our list, I can't help feeling that it's not far off clicking, and when it does it'll all happen fast.

Soo .... this is what Windows on coke looks like
You really see this don't you?
I don't like it but then again, I didn't like the idea of Yarran going back when he was teamed up with Betts & Garlett forward.

I don't know. I see this imaginary exit-player that can run and kick with precision & penetration........Anyone?
SPS on the receiving end of Crippas handballs from a center bounce delivering into f50 is where I see the most damage. Wish we had two of him and Cripps
