I said the AFL were after Rampe because he called the umpire sounding like a girl rather than climbing the post. Proof this arvo in the sanctions

SYDNEY co-captain Dane Rampe has been fined for his controversial comments towards umpire Jacob Mollison during Friday night's narrow win over Essendon. Rampe has been fined $10,000 by the AFL after telling Mollison he "talks like a little girl", having conceded a holding the ball free kick during the second quarter.

The AFL confirmed that $5000 of that fine will be suspended for the entirety of his career.

Rampe has also been hit with a fully suspended $1000 fine from the League for scaling the goalpost while Essendon's David Myers took a kick for goal after the siren to win the game.

I wasn't revising history, merely stating that even with a full list, Port have failed to achieve under Hinkley.

What if Dixon kicked straight? What if the free wasn't paid? You can deal in hypotheticals, I'll deal in fact.
Maybe the list hasn't really been that great.
Ever thought of that . Now I'm not a Hinkley apologist . Far from it. But we have players who under pressure can't kick straight ,can't hit a target, can't lay a tackle , can't think through a congested zone. Some of these kids coming through now are showing up our so called ,"talented" list as the imposters they are . That maybe is a fact ?

Are you going to add in the currently injured players? Or allow for the older guys largely being in their prime.

The turnaround in Robbie Gray alone is huge.

2017 Robbie Gray had Dixon taking the best defender every week. It’s a bit hard to judge when the best players aren’t out on the park yet.

PORT Adelaide midfielder Tom Rockliff says players, supporters and umpires are frustrated with not having a clear idea of how the holding the ball rule should be interpreted.

The following week, Power midfielder Travis Boak was penalised for not letting go of Crows forward Tom Lynch when he failed to dispose of the ball correctly.

"Incorrect disposal and dropping the ball has just gone out of the game completely, which is disappointing, because I think you still have to reward good tackling and good play like that.

"Now, the way it's being officiated or interpreted, is you can let the ball go and you've made an attempt to get rid of it, which isn't a great look.

"We've changed so many rules over the past few years that we just need to leave it alone for a while.

"Let the umpires understand the rules and make sure they're getting them right and don't change the interpretations so it makes the game near-impossible to officiate for the umpires."

I thought that climbing the posts was a reportable offense. The league has acknowledge it. That's good.

Two points:
- dropping the ball has, indeed, been considered legal disposal for a while now; BUT
- umpires do call HTB absolutely randomly.

Dropping is legal, until it isn't. Once in a while, an umpire calls HTB or "incorrect disposal" for it. Even though, he hasn't called it before and don't call it after.

Umpiring is an issue in every single pro sport league in the world. The AFL seems to be the worst I have seen. The inconsistency makes it really hard to understand and to follow the rules.

Rocky wants to promote tackling. It is fine. The league wants a more fluid game. It is also fine. Umpires should be free to choose one way or the other. Just call it consistently during a game (the crew must be on the same page), and everything will be fine

I gave you folks the heads up after our game about the current game plan not getting you anywhere.

You need a new coach. You also need to stop falling in to Koch's spruiking.

You're not delivering on your list talent.

That call was ******* wrong by the umpire, simple as that.

The intent of incorrect disposal being lax in congestion is to allow the ball to continue moving. I don't have a problem with Lynch not being called for incorrect disposal in that case, but it shouldn't be a penalty to the tackler - it should be just play on.

The only time holding the ball or incorrect disposal should be called is when the ball is clear of congestion and the player has the opportunity to make a correct disposal.

The only time holding the man should be called is when the ball is clear of congestion and the tackler is preventing the man from making a play on the ball - not after he's already received the ball and dropped it.

It's not that hard to adjudicate this in a game. Stop guessing and start actually thinking about the game itself.

The problem is that because the umpire deams that the ball comes out in the tackle, they're instructed to umpire as if the ball was never taken possession of, so essentially rocky was judged to have tackled a player who never picked up the ball.

It's the responsibility of players not to carry on with tackles even if they're unaware of where the ball is.

Who says this?

Umpiring like that means you’re better off just dropping the ball as soon as you feel like you’re about to be tackled. That’s ridiculous.

Especially when Tex apparently took unders

Define ‘unders’ in relation to a player who has never won a Best & Fairest, All-Australian guernsey or medal of note (Coleman or better).

For his profile and purported pay packet you’d think he was prime Tredwoldt.

Thanks champ. I’d been blaming our underperformance on the exploding salary cap but on reflection I think you are probably right!

Would be keen to hear your thoughts on co-captains and China.
