Analysis Changes vs Melbourne

Hickey has been pulled out of todays game. Late call up?
Perhaps, or maybe he’s still not quite right. Still less than 3 weeks since he was injured. Maybe he pulled up sorer than anticipated.

I’d be inclined to think we have a late change, though.

Thursday games really throw out planning. We have to sacrifice a few on the off chance one wakes up tomorrow not well or has a late injury. Not ideal for player continuity.

It's been a while since we've seen some genuine "silly buggers" with selection. Melbourne didn't name Preuss in their 22 but he still flew over. We didn't name Hickey but he's not playing WAFL tonight.
IMO if Preuss is a late in WC will bring in Hickey and drop Allen.

A team is allowed to change their side once submitted right?

I'm thinking there must be some injury doubt on Allen. Simpson said that hickey couldn't #1 ruck this week as he CV is on limited minutes, may as well pick someone else if vardy was questionable. So has to be allen in doubt.

Is anyone else worried about Rioli being on limited minutes in the firsts? He should come back through WAFL if he's not up to a full game IMO. The comp is too even to play half-fit players. If we get an early injury our rotations are going to be screwed.
no - limited time for Willi is worth more that full time for our likely replacements

My concern isn't with the relative value of his contribution. The minutes he doesn't play have to be covered by other players. If we have an early injury then suddenly we have a lot of bench minutes for Willie + injured player that have to be covered by others.
