Funny enough, most people I've discussed this with offline are voting Lib, while most online are saying ALP. Twitter seems to have Labor winning 138-Nil.

In my day to day random people chatting, I found that after 3 weeks of paying attention, 2 are voting Liberal, 2 are voting Independent and everyone else is fed up with the whole schmozzleFunny enough, most people I've discussed this with offline are voting Lib, while most online are saying ALP. Very well said Pykie , this is a good old fashion Coup D’etat that the club has engineered over its constituents.
What the **** were people thinking when they let this slide?!
Didn't ANYONE say that something was odd about this?
It would seem that we don't even have the power to run for a spot on the board, dude.
That is the the very problem which Wangmann has brought to our attention.
Nobody is ever 'spilling the board'. It's like saying, 'you could just join the ALP or the Libs and change from within'.
Technically true, but laughable in the real world.
The ability to at least run for the board gives us a legitimate and practical method for sharing our opinions with the broader membership base.
Even if you run and don't get up, at least you got to explain why you thought your vision was worthy of taking the time to run.
Now, we can't even RUN for the board.
Are you ******* kidding me?
. Bernie Sanders ... the only politician who wanted to take on the banks , big businesses and the like , but surprise surprise he was frozen out .Most people would be thinking, oh its a standard business practice - we're getting up to speed - good.
What we have here is one reason i like the US nomination process better than our party elected leaders. You dont become leader unless beholden to the power brokers. Not a chance Trump or Sanders wouldve been making their cases to the people. It wouldve been Clinton V Bush.
Mick Warner isn't logging on mate.I'm still curious how this story has broken 3 months after the fact. I'm glad it did but interested how?

Wasn't he quoted on Front Bar as saying he BFNAAK?

All sounds good... in theory.Power to remove the board of directors is legislative one and can't be diminished by a constitution.
Similarly, there would also be grounds for this person to seek a court order that he was being unfairly discriminated against if the club can't provide an acceptable reason for rejecting his nomination.
Whatever clubs do, they have to be able to justify any action if called to do so in court that they are not discriminating and are acting in the best interest of the members as a whole.
umbrella. Rain. Alone. His God had told him that it is all over and that Hawke had political timing until the end. Love Morrison in the way he smirks to God. And snake Baker stands for nothing except building up his character by having people attack him. Just block him. He has nothing to defend.umbrella. Rain. Alone. Bob Hawke shall not be forgotten. For all his accomplishments and all of his bravado. Man amongst men. Man amongst women. Someone who looked anyone in the eyes. Did not tolerate people shirking their real reasons for anything. Connected with people face to face so they never felt their opinions were not listened to
RIP Robert

I'm with you, Dave.
Rather than derailing yet another thread by taking a spin on the political allegiance merry-go-round, let's just try to stick to the topic of flawed NMFC Board nomination processes, and the reasoning behind the club's decision to (metaphorically-speaking) bury an icepick in the back of James' head.
So this is being brought in as a potential money saver? Hmmm. I wonder if it is being proposed to protect the "Bhoys" Club? At least we can still call an Extraordinary General Meeting and boot the Turkeys out if need be. :stern look
I don't think a single person looking to be involved in the board should or needed to have had pre-planned answers to any or all of those things. They would firstly be there for their own skills and experience.
Doubt that any of the incumbents and recent past members had to prepare a dossier answering any of these questions. They'd have all been picked out for their skillsets and/or connections.
