Richmond's 1.194 million last year is actually superior to Collingwood's 1.306 million, if you analyse both fixtures.

In 2010 Collingwood played the following teams twice ... Geelong (who finished 2nd that year), the Saints (who finished 3rd, ultimately making the GF), the Dogs (who finished 4th), Hawthorn (who finished 7th), Carlton (who made finals and were top 4 until Rd 21), Essendon (obviously a major crowd puller), and Melbourne (including the traditional QB game). The Pies played on two public holidays, and played 14 games at the MCG. Only three times did the Pies travel interstate, and did not have to play GWS or the GCS.

In 2018 Richmond drew 112,000 fewer people to their 22 matches. They played the following teams twice ... Geelong (who had a poorer year, finishing 8th), Collingwood (who finished 3rd, and are a big crowd puller), Adelaide (who missed finals), St Kilda (who had a terrible year missing finals), and Essendon (who finished in a similar position to that of 2010).

So in comparison to Collingwood playing five of the other top 8 teams twice, Richmond played just two other top 8 teams twice. Collingwood played away from Melbourne only 3 times. Richmond played 5 interstate games, including games against the GCS and GWS.

I would argue that had Richmond had double-up games against Hawthorn and Melbourne (two other Melbourne-based sides who made finals), and did not have to travel to the Gold Coast and GWS, given an MCG crowd average of 55,000, Richmond would have drawn 1.4 million.

Any impartial analysis of the two would say that Richmond's 1.194 million in 2018 was superior to Collingwood's 1.306 million in 2010.

What about Collingwood's 2011, 2008, 2007 and 2012 that were also bigger than Richmonds 2018? Yes Collingwood have had 5 seasons bigger than Richmond's 2018. Richmond does not come close.

1.4 million lol Keep on telling yourself that. Richmond cannot even crack 1.2 million or even draw over 60,000 v and interstate club in Melbourne during the home and away season.

Collingwood hold the top 5 biggest home and away attendance records of all time and 17 of the top 20 biggest crowds of all time. Collingwood are first in attendance’s and are averaging 11,000 more then Richmond per game in 2019!! Collingwood will draw well over 1.2 million this home and away season something that Richmond has never done! Collingwood were the first club to draw 1 million people during the home and away season and are 9.3 million ahead of Richmond for all time home and away attendance’s!

Only Richmond fans who are so insecure actually believe they are bigger and have more supporters then Collingwood when every supporter base poll has Collingwood miles ahead of Richmond!!

I stat facts you stat opinions which don’t hold up!!!

At a quick glance Collingwood in 2011 had the advantage, again, of a lot of other Victorian teams making the 8 (and therefore being involved in 'high stakes blockbusters'. Hawthorn, Carlton, Essendon, Saints, Geelong. GWS yet to enter comp. Played on 2 public holidays, again.

2008/7 look more impressive given lack of drawing power of the other top 8 teams (from a Victorian perspective). Although, again no GCS/GWS (which takes at least 70,000 off your total for the year, if playing away). Also, during those two years, he AFL were experimenting with playing a Sydney v Collingwood match on a stand-alone day. So you played Sydney in Sydney (when they were flag favourites) as the only match for the Saturday. And again, you played on two other public holidays.

2012 actually looks like your best result given the circumstances. You drew 1.2 million finishing 4th. The final 8 looked similar to what Richmond faced in 2018, in terms of lack of Victorian clubs. You played Gold Coast in Melbourne, which is an advantage. And you played Hawthorn, Carlton and Essendon twice with all highly competitive early in the season, setting up 85,000 blockbusters. But yes this is an amazing result.

Will Richmond ever break 1.2 million during the home and away season? Second in attendance’s in 2019! Collingwood will show Richmond how easy it is to break 1.2 million this year!! Richmond are not the biggest club in the afl.....hey they are not even the 2nd biggest!!

They boast about having 102,000 members but they don’t turn up and Collingwood who have 18,000 less members are averaging 6,000 more per game. Why is that?? Maybe because Collingwood is actually the biggest club in Australia

Will gladly post at the end of the season. Collingwood are already 73,000 ahead of Richmond. Richmond are no chance of overtaking Collingwood
We are averaging more in home games and have 1 more game in hand so we shall see

He has a point, though; it will be hard to catch Collingwood because we actually play interstate sides instead of staying home being showered with cross-town blockbusters by the AFL.
True, they have only had 2 interstate trips to our 4 so it really is in the fixture

Richmond v GWS prelim final in 2017 drew 94258
Collingwood vs GWS prelim final in 2019 ??

If the pies want to challenge the tigers for top spot they must exceed the 2017 crowd

Same occasion, same opponent. Can't be any more like for like than this

I will be watching .
