Tom McKenzie
“Each week, Tom’s been feeling more comfortable in the environment and has been having a greater impact at training.
“You can just see some of his involvements in training and match simulation drills that he’s starting to have more of an impact.
“I think his composure came with feeling more comfortable in the environment.
“Tom’s an impressive young guy that wants to get better quickly like the rest of them, but unfortunately he’s come down with a bit of a crook back at the moment, so we’ve had to pull him back a bit.”

Will surprise many, he’s a good player.

(no disrespect to Tom, hope he recovers fully and painfree)
Does a rookie spot count in terms of freeing up a list spot for midseason draft?

Tom McKenzie is a chance to return for the end of the season, with the club not rushing his recovery from stress fractures in his back.

“Unfortunately he had a recurrence of the stress fractures which is why we’ve taken a very slow approach,” Joyce said.

“He’s got through 5-6 weeks of running now and he’s been symptom free.”

“If he ticks off what he needs to in the next couple of weeks we’ll make a call on whether he'll play this season or not.”

"There was also a warm welcome for Tom McKenzie at Arden Street on Wednesday, with the youngster training with the main group for the first time all season due to a back injury."

Anyone know how this guy has settled in? Have we given him another year? Does he get along well with the boys? Haven’t seen much of him (noting he has had his back injury) Has the right attributes to be a great half backer and from interviews seems to have a great attitude.

If he has a fair run at it, I honestly think he isn't far off Bailey Scott in terms of a prospect. I rate him that highly. We got a bargain when we got him in the rookie draft.

Has elite speed, was statistically the most effective kick in the entire 2018 TAC Cup, in what was an extremely strong year and found the ball at 23+ touches a game playing as an inside mid and across half back.

He was always going to be a slow burn because of his body size.

He's a much better player than Thomas Dow as an example this year, and Tom could go top #30.

Definitely persist, even if we have to nurse him through 2020, he is the perfect example of the benefit of the 3 year rookie list.

No contract yet according to Tom.

Oh dear.

Between Zurhaar's promotion, Wilkinson leaving and Red OG going.

2 x rookie selections and McGuiness as a Cat B is ample in this draft.

We aren't going to get within 50 picks of a player with this kids talent and CV in this rookie draft.
